The epilogue is kinda cliffhanger-ish and foreshadow that the problem in dreki world still not end yet. McMaster is one of my autobuy author, and Legend of the Storm is another of her series that I liked. Sure that I detect some typos in this book, but it didn't lessen my enjoyment at all. Just give it a try, guys! Sep 24, Joelle rated it really liked it Shelves: The guy was taken through hell. I enjoyed this one a lot - I like it when the villain is redeemed and when it is done well.

I do have have to admit though that I was a bit confused initially as to whether I'd already read this as there is overlap with the previous book since this story runs in the same time line. Sep 30, Lara rated it really liked it. I gave this author a chance with steampunk genre and I fell in love. With the genre, with her writing style, characters, world building. Than I tried her apocalypse genre reluctantly as I was not fond of this genre at all and I fell in love. I think the trick is, aside from obvious talent and great imagination, a lot of research.

It all seems so real and logical and you get sucked into the story in a blink. If I adored her books in genres not so familiar or liked, there was I gave this author a chance with steampunk genre and I fell in love. I knew I would like it, just not how much. Should've learned by now what to expect. So, there is Tiamat, who gave life to many creatures like wyrms and dragons.

Before she died, she gave life to her best creation ever and gave each of them a part of her soul. The best of the best, the highest, most important, most powerful, most everything. And we have expected arrogance right from the start. And all other expected characteristics of dragons save one - it's combined with Norse mythology. This was unexpected and a welcome surprise as I really, really like Norse myths.

The storyline is placed in Iceland and the world building is exceptional. You get all details in terms of society dynamics and injustices and the book is not only about romance. It's about forbidden romance and it sweet how they overcome their various fears and differences. We have a seemingly ruthless, arrogant, tormented hero, pinning for years for his seemingly shy and meek soul mate. She is all but meek and he is all but ruthless and the wooing stars and emotions grow and love happens.

The story overlaps with previous book and it adds to experience, meeting new actors and old ones once more. Book is fast paced with lots of action and it holds attention to the end. I'd like it even better if the romance part was more passionate and with deeper drama. I got a feeling our heroine glossed over some quite important issues and was to indecisive about unimportant ones. All in all, great story in a wonderful setting with layered characters and highly recommendable if you like good dragon romance story with a different twist. I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This book is the story of Sirius and Malen. He is a dreki prince who is both respected and feared at court. She is a drekling, a half blood who is unable to shift into a dragon, who is the servant of the princess and generally unimportant. He has know she was his mate since they first met 10 years ago but has denied himself because the court was not a safe place for a drekling mate or for love in general. He also has a dark past that has left him feeling unworthy of anything as precious as a mate.

She is the perfect servant on the outside but there is a fire that lives within her. She has been working with the dreklings and discontented dreki to prepare for a rebellion that would place the exiled prince and true heir on the throne. That which is small is not necessarily weak. They come together in a mutual quest to help Princess Ardis. During their travels Malen learns about the man behind the reputation and rumors.

Sirius learns to begin to listen to someone who truly sees him. Together can they put an end to a rotten and evil rein by the Queen? Can they overcome all the obstacles to come together as true mates? Can they both learn to trust and to love? This was one of my favorite books in the series to date. I was provided a free copy of the book by the author in exchange for my honest review.

Both Sirius and Malen are feisty, proud and wounded. The dialogue when they are together is amazing and totally sucked me in! I found it hard to stop reading at any point! This book is very action packed and lighter on the smexy than I was expecting what with the bare chested barbarian on the cover: I really hope that there are more books in this series and set in this world because I am not ready to leave! I like the overall story here about betrayed kings, evil queens, banished princes, etc etc. He gifts her books!! Overall, the way he played, protected, and watched over her for the years that he knew her and wanted her was very sweet.

We finally get to know what happened to start this whole shift in power in the dreki court! The Bads No big complaints really; I like my romances steamy, so maybe this one was a little lighter on the romances than my preference. The main part of this book overlaps in the timeline with the second book of the series. There was a bit of feeling like that was a retelling of the second book from a different perspective, so it felt a little slower in the beginning. When the third book caught up with the ending of the second book, then it felt like the adventure took off at warped speed from there.

Given he was forced into an arranged mating with Princess Ardis, in the previous book, Sirius has a lot to overcome. In Storm of Desire , he let Ardis escape, wanting to avoid mating with her. However, he later had to convince Malin to help him protect the princess when Sirius's father promised her hand to the dreki who captured her. With a nasty, power-hungry half-brother looking to gain control of the court, Sirius and Malin have no choice but to ensure that doesn't happen. Malin has disliked Sirius the entire time she's known him. His dangerous reputation does precede him, and she's already avoiding detection as a spy for the rebellion.

Pushed into aiding Sirius for Ardis's sake, Malin is confronted with Sirius's true nature, and has a difficult time reconciling it with who she thought he was. When Malin finally started accepting Sirius isn't the evil bastard everyone thought, the story took off. Before that, I was frustrated with her at times. Sirius gave her very clear reasons for doing what he was doing, and she was obstinate and almost snooty. Sirius had a lot to overcome, both with Malin and personally.

His disgust at what his father has forced him to do weighs heavily on his conscience and in his ability to believe he can be better in his actions, rather than just his thoughts. We got a broader look at this Icelandic dreki world and the magical abilities and creatures in it. Since we got to revisit characters from the beginning of the series, and I can't wait to see how they all come together for what it sure to be a treacherous obstacle in the next book, Storm of Fury.

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book. Sep 16, Heather rated it it was amazing. She is a Drekling, half-blood, servant within the Dreki court and has always been invisible except to Sirius. For ten years, he watched her from afar never daring to reveal what she truly meant to him, but once they are off to catch up with the Princess he is supposed to mate with, she starts to see the real dragon behind the warlord moniker. Their adventure was fun, exciting, entertaining, and fast paced. The plot was such that it completely stands on its own as a romance without the steamy passion.

I was happy when they finally got to be together, but for their story, if they had come together sooner rather than later it would not have made much sense to the plot and character development. They needed to wait. I enjoyed their story a lot and the series has definitely gotten better and better with each book. Sep 19, Giki rated it it was amazing Shelves: This is the third in the very enjoyable 'Legends of the storm' series.

I would recommend reading the other two firs as this covers part of the same timeframe as book 2, but from a different point of view. Sirus Blackfrost, the arch villain of the Dreki court, all round black hearted bad guy, has a terrible secret. Malin is the meek drekling servant, secretly working for the rebels, she would love nothing more than to bring The Blackfrost to his knees. But the very thought of that sti A great read. But the very thought of that stirs disturbing emotions deep within her.

When Sirus abducts her from the court to help him find his betrothed princess they are thrown together. He pushes at her defences until she can no longer deny what she feels for him. I really loved the snappy, sarky, backchat between the two main characters. Sirus was so respectful and protective towards Malin, this is a story that will leave you with a warm glow.

It is another thrilling story set against the atmospheric back drop of the harsh Icelandic scenery. I received a free copy of this ebook for review. Sep 17, Rachel Webb rated it really liked it Shelves: What better way to ride out Hurricane Florence than reading a romance novel with a hate to love story line and a villain turned hero? If you've read the other stories in this series, then you'll be familiar with both Malin and Sirius and will have wanted to read their story as much as I did.

It could have ended as a trilogy, but luckily, McMaster gave us a teaser at the end to let us know there will be more to come and more happily ever afters for other side characters. I like these books as they are very different from McMaster's other books, but I really love her steampunk romances with a passion. I received a copy of this book for an honest review. Sep 16, Melissa rated it it was amazing. He is the type of hero that just makes me melt.

Strong, a lot dark and totally besotted by the heroine. Mallen was also fun to watch grow. She started with some hint of strength and as the story progressed she blossomed. As much as I loved the characters in this one and Sirius and Mallen are really my favorites in this series I think what impresses me most is that the stories keep getting better.

Bec's world building is incredible and each part builds on the one before it. So of I love Sirius! So often in series the stories stagnate or rehash the same things but Bec just seems to open a new door and let you into more of the world. This is not the first series of hero's that I have felt the with.

Sirius is the ruthless prince turned love interest that readers fall in love with. This was a surprisingly interesting read where love sometimes is enough and happily ever after is only a dragon's breath away. Quick and easy read. Sep 07, Ashley Herzig rated it liked it Shelves: Clash of Storms was a thoroughly enjoyable read. I haven't read the previous two books in the series, so the main plot didn't really work for me hence the three stars but I loved the main characters! Dragons, action, adventure, love. It's the perfect mix. Plus Bec McMaster is an amazing story teller. The setting and the plot are well described interesting and easy to follow. And the character development is great, no two characters are a like and I love that. If you like the rest of the legends of the storm series you'll love this one. Otherwise you get what you expect from the romance. The epilogue was annoying. Sep 13, Melanie Schuler rated it it was amazing. A wicked hot read!
