Sweet, wry and funny, and apparently, the author is a real person writing about a real relationship. If you love screwy dialogue and snappy banter, this is a delightful dish of angsty hilarity.

I just read Waking up in Vegas by Stevie Kisner. If you loved Tangled, then this is for you! Told from the male POV, it was hilarious and fun. I really enjoyed it!

When I gave him the address, he asked if the salesman should look out for anything to make our place easier to find. I told him they couldn't miss it. It was the first bungalow on the estate. The wife, Maude, has just bought a new exercise machine and said I should use it to slim down. As far as I'm concerned, I get quite enough exercise picking The Crabby Old Git is on Facebook.

The characters are well written and believably fallible and if Britain had a real space program to get to Mars, I think it would be just as chaotic and funny as the author tells it.

Quick enjoyable read, a bit on the predictable scale but very well written and interesting storyline. Would recommend for readers looking for an easy escape read. One person found this helpful. Moving, funny, sad but triumphant. High tech sci-fi collides with the gritty reality of a distressed family. I could not stop reading until I finished it in one sitting. Some good spots but not many. Continuity lacking, takes time to recover storyline. Glad it is a short book.

This book was Quirky and fun. It is a read that both adults and adolescents can enjoy. I would recommend it.

The book is the first humorous one to be written by Barnett, an English journalist and author of the Gideon Smith series. The story requires some large suspensions of disbelief. These are namely that an unlikely, anti-social astronaut by the name of Thomas Major would a mistakenly telephone a dysfunctional family from Wigan in Manchester and b continue to interact with them on subsequent calls as he continues his voyage to Mars. If the reader can get past this then they are in for an excellent kind of space oddity. Barnett does a superb job with his character development.
