We want them to be more affectionate. All of these things are expectations. Expectations are just your requirements for "acceptability" of loving someone. But true love has no expectations. It simply loves "as is.
Love doesn't play the victim role or blame others. Love doesn't think others are "out to get them. It forgives and allows other people's actions to be their journey. Love doesn't take things personally.

You can put all emotions on a continuum. On one end, you have love. After that, it's joy, happiness, contentment and satisfaction. On the opposite end of the continuum of love is fear. Other fear-based emotions include, hatred, insecurity, jealousy or greed. Love is not needing, but wanting.
One of the things we try to teach kids is that there is a clear difference between a want and a need. Needing someone is a feeling based in fear. You fear that you can't live without them, so you need them.
When Love Gets Away, Then Comes Back
And remember, fear is the opposite of love. Wanting someone in your life gives them the freedom to leave, but still shows them you love them. Love is an action, not just a feeling. Humans tend to be addicted to intense emotion -- especially when it feels good. So, when we're in love, we want to feel that way forever. That higher than "Cloud 9" feeling goes away after a while. I was excited to read what I thought was a continuation of the When the Mission Ends series.
While the book was well-written, I was disappointed that this story had absolutely nothing to do with the other four books in the series. The other four were all inter-connected with characters, places, and plots. Frankly, this book would have been much better if it actually connected to the other books or if all 5 books were not really connected.
Oh, this was a scary one going in. From the description I just knew that Felicia and Gage needed to be together. I was prepared to be all in and want their HEA from the beginning He was a great guy and he deserved to be loved, he just wasn't the right guy for Felicia So, in case you're wondering, Christi Snow gets to hold onto her EvilAuthor title just a little bit longer.
Actually, all the characters in When Love Comes Back were great. I loved Gage's kids and having Felicia's best friend around to bounce her feelings off gave an alternate perspective that really added to the story. There were also flash backs that shed some light on what happened in Gage and Felicia's past.

It also proved that as much as Gage screwed up, he wasn't the only one who made some mistakes and hasty decisions. Romance, a little bit of danger and characters who are really easy to fall for. It can most definitely be read as a stand alone, but I've been a fan of this author's writing since prologue in the first book in this series, so of course I'm going to recommend that you start at the beginning with Operation: There are a couple of characters in this one that I really want to see more of.
You know those characters that kind of jump off the page and demand to be heard? Or the ones that really need an HEA of their very own? Yeah, I'm really looking forward to what comes next ; I received When Love Comes Back in exchange for a fair and honest review. Man, they can pull at the heartstrings. Given what Gage did to ruin things between him and Felicia the first time, those heartstrings took a lot to get pulled. Seriously, dude, what happened in the past wasn't cool and you're just lucky Felicia is a forgiving soul. I guess it helps that he was also genuinely contrite about the way things went down.
And for all his faults, he was trying to be a good dad and he figured out exactly what he'd lost when he did what he did. But enough of that introspective mushy stuff. Let's talk about Felicia and Gage in the here and now. Felicia's in a pretty serious relationship, but Gage's arrival throws things all out of whack.

Which does not bode well for things between her and her current squeeze. To throw even a little more tension into an already tense situation, someone is targeting Felicia and Did I mention that Gage is Felicia's current honey's boss-man? That makes for some awkward moments.

Felicia's got a bullseye on her back and her men have to sort of team up to keep her safe. Fun, sexy, full of second chances and a hint of danger.
