The opinions stated in the review above are entirely my own. This is a great second story addition to the Lavender Tides series that takes place in Lavender Falls, on the coastal area of Washington state. Ellie Blackmore and Jason Yarwood, own Lavender Farm Homes, a construction company that buys and remodel houses for resell flips houses. Her younger sister, Mackenzie, and Jason don't get along real well but Mac helps out with the remodeling from time to time. Mac is a professor specializing in Asian languages including Korean. She has a sailboat that This is a great second story addition to the Lavender Tides series that takes place in Lavender Falls, on the coastal area of Washington state.

She has a sailboat that she loves to sail and was instrumental in getting a regatta in their area but before the race takes place, she disappeared on the night of her birthday celebration. Ellie found quite a bit of blood on the deck of her sailboat but no body and Jason is the first suspect. The medical examiner said that there was too much blood for Mac to survive without medical care. The townspeople turn out to look for her or her body but she is not found. Coast Guard investigator Grayson Bradshaw is in town to investigate the disappearance of some cocaine that the Coast Guard confiscated.

Signs point to a connection to Mac and a known terrorist but Ellie nor any other person who knows Mac can believe that she is responsible. Ellie and Gray team up and put their heads together to try to find Mac and if she is connected to Gray's case. Someone tries to break into Ellie's house while she is sleeping and it seems that they think that she knows something.

The mystery goes deeper than the cocaine disappearance and maybe has some sort of connection far more sinister. There are a lot of questions to be answered and one is to find out where Mac is and pray that she is somehow alive. One a side note, Gray grew up in North Carolina but finds out information about a family that he didn't know that he was part of and has ties to Lavender Falls. This is a mystery with many twists that keeps the pages turning and enough surprises to be unpredictable.

Ellie is the main character and is a successful house flipper. Grayson is a Coast Guard investigator who has been called into the ar Near the northern coast of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state are many lavender fields. Grayson is a Coast Guard investigator who has been called into the area to find the culprits behind the theft of seized opium.

The two clash when it looks like Ellie's younger sister is the thief. But the sister is missing and a large amount of her blood was found on her boat. Ellie and Grayson work together to find out what happened to Ellie's sister and the reason behind the drug theft. I had a hard time liking Ellie. Her sister is missing and presumed dead because of the blood found.

Ellie seems concerned at times but at other times she goes about her house remodel projects as if nothing is bothering her. She and Grayson feel some romantic tension as they haltingly work toward a relationship. It seemed to me that her character was not consistent. Grayson had just found out he had been adopted and was, in fact, a brother to a woman living in Lavender Tides.

The plot seems a little far fetched to me. I find it hard to believe that terrorists would be interested in doing a nefarious deed in such a rather isolated place. All the trouble it would take to deliver the destruction also seemed a bit much. I do recommend this book to readers who enjoy romance combined with suspense.

You'll learn a bit about a potential way for terrorists to disrupt life as well. I received a complimentary digital copy of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review. Aug 01, Lisa Johnson rated it it was amazing. Ellie goes into a home, gets a feel for how the home will or could look, and if it has some hidden quality or characteristic, she brings it out. Now Mac has gone missing and is presumed dead due to the amount of blood that was found at the scene.

What the sheriff and other investigators are saying is that Mac was involved in something that Ellie cannot accept and, in fact, will not. She is determined to find her sister and find out the real truth, but will she? Grayson works for the Coast Guard as an intelligence officer, though he has been on leave to recuperate from an injury sustained in a prior case. Grayson is now at Lavender Bay and what he has been told about his true family history sets him on a quest where he meets Ellie. The chemistry between these two characters is tantalizing from the first moment their eyes meet, but can they really have a future together when there seems to be danger at every turn.

In fact, bullets are flying though not at Grayson, but at Ellie and unless he Grayson can find the culprits Ellie may be hurt.

Arriving in Lavender Tides, Washington, Grayson Bradshaw believes that a huge cocaine theft might lead him closer to a known terrorist, whose insatiable need for cash might provide the money trail that he so desperately needs to finally apprehend his nemesis, Tarek Nasser. Coincidentally, the cozy coastal town is also where he grew up, having just been discovered by his biological sister, but having almost no recollection of her or anything else in Lavender Tides.

When his first acquaintance is the sister of his prime suspect, Grayson is actually struck by Ellie Blackmore's staunch loyalty to her sister MacKenzie, who has tragically disappeared without a trace. Ellie Blackmore is a "hammer girl"; a successful "flipper" in a town that is begging to be renovated and appreciated for its charming ambience. When CGIS agent Grayson Bradshaw invades Ellie's personal space, asking a lot of pointed questions about her sister, Ellie wants nothing more to do with the handsome Coastie.

However, as the nature of his investigation deepens, Ellie begins to wonder if she really knows her sister at all; things are simply not adding up. On the other hand, could it be to her advantage to get to know Grayson Bradshaw a whole lot better? The characters are developed with depth and dialogue that moves the story to its amazing end. Ellie Blackmore is a houseflipper and is quite good at what she d Thoroughly enjoyed The House on Saltwater Point by Colleen Coble, one of my all time favorite authors. Ellie Blackmore is a houseflipper and is quite good at what she does. When Mackenzie mysteriously disappears from her boat, a sailboat she restored herself, leaving behind a large puddle of blood, Ellie is determined to find out what happened on the boat.

Enter Grayson Bradshaw, a Coast Guard intelligence officer, who strongly believes that Mackenzie was mixed up in something unsavory. Sparks fly as Ellie and Grayson, both determined to find answers. Ellie holds out hope that despite the amount of blood found on the boat, her sister is still alive and innocent of any wrongdoing. Grayson, on the other hand, is convinced that not only is Mackenzie dead but is also guilty of terrorism. When Ellie finds herself a target by whoever took her sister, she refuses to quit looking for answers.

As an intelligence officer, Grayson is privy to information that Ellie is not. When he is pulled off the case without explanation, he continues his efforts to protect Ellie. I was never drawn to the main characters like I have been in many of her other books. They seemed a bit shallow. And much of the romance scenes were a bit drippy. This books just lacked depth that I am accustomed to reading in mysteries. And to be honest, I really don't care what a character that only appears once is wearing or what color their hair color is.
