Every so often I decide to explore a new cuisine or technique. I go to the public library and check out half a dozen cookbooks and try a few recipes from each. If I end up loving the recipes I try, I will usually buy the book. This was one of a couple of favorites about Mediterranean cooking.

The other one I liked was the America's Test Kitchen book. I checked them both out again to have sort of a cook-off, and decided on this one because the recipes are simpler and easier to cook, but still fresh and tasty. One of my favorite recipes was Smoked Salmon and Arugula Salad, which was so delicious it was likely the deciding factor in my decision to buy this book.

So imagine my chagrin when I opened my new-and-improved 2nd edition copy of the cookbook, only to find that the recipe had been deleted! I mean, why would a publisher or an author do this? Did they want to add something else and decide the extra piece of paper was too expensive to include in the book? I still recommend the book, but if you're basing your decision to buy it on a 1st edition copy, you may be sorely disappointed. I checked out the 1st edition one last time to copy the missing recipe and compared the two.
