I don't see a difference between ''although'' and ''though'' in this sentence, just that ''although'' sounds more appropriate. It has multiple uses, one of them can't be really translated into English, it has a similar meaning as ''but'' or ''even'' and it put into sentence with it or is translated as ''but'' or ''even''. It emphasises your statement but it can be left out.

Negation -nicht and kein

I thought doch was a response to a negative question or statement meaning "of course" is this right? The possible uses of doch have been answered several times on this page. Is it something such a "maar toch" in dutch? I would like to have something that I can compare it with. There is a word in Hebrew, probably taken from Yiddish which has close ties to German that is parallel to "doch" - davka or dafka. I was commenting on the English words specifically. Not sure what words are accepted or not for "richtig", or why. I imagine "true" could work in some contexts, but perhaps it's not considered quite a direct enough translation in the absence of any clarifying context. I mean, this fits very contextually " but of course" itself varies in meaning based on tone and context , but in practical usage, it fits quite nicely with many common uses of "doch".

Other times it can translate to "though" which is interestingly the English cognate of "doch". It is not "but;" it affirms the statement. Perhaps Duo wants a coordinating conjunction instead of a subordinating conjunction. According to what we learned so far, "sondern" is the word when we are going to say something in contrast with what someone has mentioned. Am I missing something??
