Editorial Reviews. About the Author. Meradeth Houston is a California native who isn't a big fan of talking about herself. But, for the sake of coming up with. The Chemistry of Fate (A Sary Society Novel) (Volume 2) [Meradeth Houston] on The Chemistry of Fate (Sary Society Series) and millions of other books are.

Does it matter that she's immortal? Maybe the only thing that matters is he knows too much about the secretive Sary, so Fate may have to step in and kill the relationship Can she save his life? Can she save her wings? A lightning bug is just a bug without its light; what happens to a Sary if she loses her beautiful wings? One person found this helpful. What a rollicking, soaring read! I don't usually read paranormal YA, so this well-written book was a welcome surprise!

Houston's lyrical descriptions of the setting and vivid details about the characters really made the book come alive and seem normal - not even paranormal - but grounded in reality. Carefully constructing her evocative images, the author actually makes it easy to believe that characters can grow wings and have a supernatural existence in a parallel world. The alternating points of view were engaging and added to the believability of the plot. To give everything up for love is an admirable motive, and when Ari loses her wings for love of Tom, it is transformational, indeed.

I enjoyed this book even more than the author's first which I liked. The characters were interesting and well developed.

Editorial Reviews

Reading from the changing perspectives of the two main characters, Ari and Tom, is a tool that draws the reader in and keeps one engaged. The one thing I would say is that I found myself wanting more development, on the Sary as a whole and their way of life on the Island.

Science in Fiction!

I wanted more which is a good thing I guess. I recommend this book for young adult readers. First I have to emphasize that paranormal isn't really my thing and I loved this book. It is, first and foremost, a romance and a new adult one at that. You couldn't help but root for Tom and Ari the Sary! Meradeth Houston did it again!! Houston weaves a tale of love and sacrifice that will break your heart. My only complaint is the end came to soon, leaving me waiting for the release of book three!

Did you ever see City of Angels? Were you intrigued by the concept but disappointed with the results?

The Eater of Books!: Blog Tour Review: The Chemistry of Fate by Meradeth Houston

Well, Meradeth Houston takes the concept, of an immortal who must choose between love and eternal life, and, where City of Angels fails, she succeeds. Love, intrigue, family history, immortality, and a splash of danger blend together in this well told story.

Chemistry of Fate, by Meradeth Houston, reminds us that angels may be attending our every need. No matter what we experience, there just may be some entity watching over us, inspiring us to keep the faith, to keep striving for truth and love. Houston has definitely dialed in on the perfect relationship.

As she ends this story, I wanted so much more. Don't keep us waiting too long. Our family is a huge part of who we are. So when Tom discovers his grandfather's journal, he wants to know more about the man. If he does, as history has proven, he will meet an untimely end. Ari is on assignment, but she starts to fall for Tom as she spends time with him.

When she realizes how much he does know, all she wants to do is keep him safe. If the Sary find out she's withholding information, she will lose her wings. Can she save Tom without losing herself? Two interesting characters destined to be together plus an intriguing race of angels equals a wonderful read. I was invested in Tom from page one, and I found myself rooting for Ari and Tom to be together--for true love to win out over the Sary's rules. The only thing holding me back from a 5-star rating was a feeling that I needed more background about the Sary. On the back cover, which is included before the start of the book in Kindle format, the author clearly states: From page one, I felt like I was missing some crucial information about the Sary especially a clear explanation of what they are and what their mission really is.

But in the end, Tom and Ari's tale swept me away. Now, I just need to get my hands on Colors like Memories.

I received a complimentary copy for review purposes. I desired to have one photo of myself as I once was. The hysterical laugh bubbled up inside and made me lean my forehead against the cool tiles of the counter.

Not real at all. I could see the photo out of the corner of my eye. I wanted to rip it into a million pieces and drop them like confetti out the window. Picking up the small square photo with the tips of my fingers, I inspected the image closely.
