Alaska Twilight

There were simply several times during the course of the book that I found something a little hard to fully believe, so I considered rating it a three, but entertainment value won out and I went with a four. The author does a very good job making the reader feel they are actually experiencing the Alaskan wilderness, and I enjoyed the characters of Haley, Brooke, and Tank. If y I struggled a little bit rating this one.

I can't really blame the author; freelance writers tend to be of an, er, lesser quality.

The usage of Christianity felt forced, the relationships were very superficial, the dialogue was synonymous with a 14 year olds creative writing assignment.

It's refreshing to read Christian fiction that isn't sappy and unrealistic. Coble gives this genre quality and nobility. Nov 02, Barb rated it it was amazing. For Haley, it is a dangerous world of dark dreams a Alaska Twilight is the story of a young woman's emergence from the shadows of past sorrow into the light of forgiveness and grace. I was hooked the first page. Cobble is quickly becoming my go to author. This book was riveting from beginning to end. Apr 22, Aletha rated it liked it Shelves: I enjoyed this story, but found the redemption and sudden faith in Christ of the main female protagonist to be a bit tacky.

She was pushed in the direction from people around her, but it seemed like her transformation was instant. There was no inner dialogue or inkling that she was changing her point of view until the last minute. The bears, the Alaskan wilderness, the suspense, and the twist in the end were all well done! I look forward to reading more of Coble's! Mar 21, Heidi rated it really liked it. I love reading Colleen Coble's light romances for a quick escape from real life. A bookmark from my grandmother was stuck in this book and in her handwriting it reads: The nicest place to be is in someone's thoughts — the safest place to be is in someone's prayers — And the best place to be is in God's hands.

Jun 23, Kw rated it really liked it. This is quite an adventure, so don't be fooled by the benign title. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it as one of my favorites by this author. I loved the characters, the Christian message, the setting s and the idea of a never-completely-dark 24 hours.

I can't even imagine sleeping without night! Feb 14, Donalyn Kent rated it really liked it. Celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary in Alaska and brought this book along for the journey. It had just the right amount of suspense and mystery, with a pinch of romance. It was a well-chosen read for my trip, for sure. Unfortunately, I saw more bears in my imagine while reading the story than I did on my vacation!

Sadly the few books written by Miss Colleen that I've read haven't been my style. This book was riveting from beginning to end. Books that take place in Alaska always make me curious, hence the reason I started this book. I realized God delights in using the weak and fearful. Haley Mitchell is a photographer that is given the rare opportunity to document biologist Tank Lassiter's work with bears in Alaska.

I enjoyed this book, it had a good mix of adventure, suspense, and romance. I also enjoyed learning about the bears and I didn't guess who was behind the string of murders until the reveal. I also liked the fact that the protagonist, Haley, is handicapped, you don't read many books where that's the case.

Oct 15, Courtney rated it it was ok Shelves: I know I have read other books by this author but this one I kept seeing her descriptions of the main characters. His hands were so big they covered her whole head when he touched her. I was surprised at the ending but by then I was more surprised that I stayed with it that long.

Jul 26, Leigh Ann rated it really liked it. I picked up this book because it was set in Alaska, where I was going. But, I enjoyed this story.

This was a great book and I am excited to read more of her novels! The story is predictable, choppy, and just all over the place. The character development was fairly non-existent and the physical description of what people looked like seemed to be substituted for characterization. Characters seemed to be inserted randomly -- Haley's grandmother, Augusta, seems to be written in largely to deliver mini-sermons and doesn't say or do much otherwise.

I have no idea what the characters on the bear hunting adventure were supposed to provide to the storyline either. I never did understand Haley's parent's rejection even though I have the distinct impressions the author thinks I should. Overall, not terrible and if you are looking for a clean, simple story this might be just fine for you. If you are looking for an engrossing tale where people's motivations are explored and a great story told, I would pass. Not even the setting of Alaska saved this one for me since it wasn't utilized that well. While I did finish the book and I have read much worse over the years, there was nothing here that leads me to seek out any other book by this author.

Usually, even though you might still enjoy the read, you figure out, "who done it" Yes, that 's, bad grammar really early.

I didn't figure out this mystery until Coble chose to reveal it. It has the brilliance and draw as all her books do, but this is one of my favorites. It took a little longer to get into it, but it was well worth the investment of time! I enjoyed the suspense of this book. The author did an excellent job of pulling all of the incidents together at the end. She combined many aspects of human nature from greed to love. See all reviews.
