Hiking Up the Hill


Highway One passes below the east and north sides of Black Hill and the foothills of the Santa Lucia Mountains are visible to the east and north. Slip through a few additional wooden bike gates before circling around the water tank to meet up with the shorter route to Black Hill, just above the upper trailhead. There are even some level parts that acted as a break. Teresa and I were even able to chat the entire way. After the long rest, we continued on. I was now completely drenched in sweat and felt like a stinky, sticky mess. We were finally close to the top. Just a short stretch up some steps. And we arrived at the building on top of the hill.
