I would highly recommend this book. You won't be able to put it down and you will find yourself laughing and crying, identifying with the characters, cheering for their success and humbled by their failures. This book shares how determination and persistence, as well as love and devotion, can overcome any obstacle. It also helped me to understand the plight of the people of Cuba under Castro and how people can make the best of their sometimes limited circumstances. It reminded me to live gratefully, appreciatively, and joyfully in all situations.

Having no idea how brutal their lives are due to Castro, I thought it would be fun to be a tourist. I had no idea a tourist can enter a hotel, but a local Cuban cannot. The strength and courage one man and one woman can muster is at epic proportions in this memoir. When Brooks describes a higher power helping him, I could feel his truth. And while reading what he endured I realized that there had to be a higher power mixed in with fate, destiny and karma.

A great read and a memorable love story. Couldn't put it down. This absolutely needs to be made into a movie. Gripping, vividly detailed true story of love, hope, desperation, determination, and a mixture of good and bad luck. A story that needed to be shared and Mr.

I devoured the book. Great romance, the one that's difficult to find and the struggles they go through to be together, as well as telling the story of a country that is very controversial.
