There also is little range overlap, which is important to know when identifying these sedentary species. Green magpies' green feathers will fade to turquoise-blue when frequently exposed to the sun. This is because green plumage colouration is produced by a combination of two sources: Captive birds and those wild individuals that spend a lot of time in the sun will fade to blue because carotenoids are destroyed by light even the plumage colour of "stuffed" prepared bird specimens that are stored in dark museum drawers fades.

Blue-coloured captive birds that are not kept outdoors are probably not getting enough carotenoids in their diet so they grow blue plumage when they moult. That said, it is worth mentioning that genetic blue plumage-colour variants do tend to pop up fairly frequently even in the wild. This colour variant is prized in aviculture, so is be selectively bred for when it does occur.

You are invited to review all of the daily mystery birds by going to their dedicated graphic index page. This can really bring you out of the doldrums. Think in terms of adding a little pop or accent of color to your room in a few areas to keep it connected. For example, blue in a pillow and then blue in a decorative accent on the coffee table. The kids are back in school yeah! I am starting by updating the pillows on my sofa. If you have time this week, pop into your local HomeGoods — they have tons of great throw pillows in my favorite fall colors — navy, orange, cream, and light blue.

I had to share the inspiration behind my new logo design. When I was a little girl my family had wonderful reunions with extended family at different locations throughout the United States. I ended up with some adorable, handmade stationary with little birds made out of ric rac and a fine tip marker.

It was so simple, but so sweet kind of like her! They survived 12 moves, three states, and two children! When I was brainstorming the name for my new business — little bird — came to mind. There is a reason I have held onto that stationary- and now I know why! I am so lucky to have had her design it and my website for that matter and to be starting this new chapter of my life. With Spring officially here in I have become obsessed with changing the look of my front door. I have neutral tan siding, white trim, and black shutters.

Now to add some fun with color! Blue is a color I have always been drawn to, and with its revival as of late in interior decor I have become inspired to bring it into the exterior of my home. It is a great color to add year round charm to any home and compliments each season.

I will keep you posted once I complete my project. For now, here are a few inspirational color choices to make your front door pop!
