I was enthralled with the movie, and I would argue that it is his best film. The naivete of common folk in a world that powerful people inhabit, the animalistic ritualization of sex, the entitlement to fidelity modern people expect from a marriage, the jealousy and bitterness that comes with the idea of a spouse sharing pleasure with another: This story, however, pales in comparison to what Kubrick did with it.
