The other entries seem to be all historically important people who are no longer with us. That being said, I was very glad to read about such an amazingly determined man.

What Happened In George Lucas' STAR WARS EPISODE VII

I have long been a fan of Lucas' movies and enjoyed reading about some of the influences in his career. This new biography series from Scholastic is perfect for 3rd graders on up and even reluctant older readers. The chapters are short and reader-friendly. The illustrations add to the overall information provided making the person more real to the reader. A great way to introduce important and influential figures to young readers.

Jun 04, Nancy rated it it was ok. Biography of George Lucas aimed at third and fourth grade readers, with an emphasis on Lucas's early life, his experiences in film school, and the making of the first Star Wars trilogy. The overall theme seems to be that Lucas took big risks to stay true to his own vision and passion and they paid off.

The prequel trilogy and later achievements are mentioned briefly. Despite the title, the book isn't written in the first person. It didn't tell me anything I didn't already know, but I wasn't expecting it to. It hit all the high points with ease. Dec 31, Erika Gentry rated it liked it. These children's biographies are a good "Cliff Notes" for learning about the real person. Many fascinating facts about George Lucas-didn't know he wrote the first Star Wars screenplay on paper with a 2 pencil! Also didn't know that the website Edutopia was funded by his earnings-he donates a LOT of money to charities or organizations that can make a difference.

He also doesn't dress to impress. The book's focus on his profits were a little too much.

This was very interesting book. I learned a lot from it. One thing is when he was 18 he wanted to work on cars and make cars but he stopped wanting that as a career because he got in a terrible car crash which almost killed him. Another fact is him and Steven Spielberg went to Hawaii to talk about his new movie Indiana jones he wanted Steven to direct it.

There where a lot more facts and a lot stuff about Star Wars. The most best part about this book is that it's all about George Lucas. I ordered this book for my 8 year old granddaughter. She is not a Star wars fan, so was not really interested in reading about George Lucas. I told her that Mr. Lucas is an important part of popular culture, therefore, she should read this short biography so that she could participate in conversation. After she finished it, she came to me citing interesting facts she learned. Bought this along with the other book, who is George Lucas and really enjoyed this one full of great information and loved learning about George Lucas the man is a legend.

Our 3rd grade son used this book to do a book report with. It was great because it had the different parts of his life that he needed for the report. It also had some fun facts at the end that he enjoyed. Packed with helpful information for my book report plus it was enjoyable to read. I learned things about G. My 8 year old read this for school and it was very interesting.
