Better than most GN storylines, but some times the pace slows down to glacial. Worth a read if not a purchase. Great comic I just fell upon this series one day and have been looking for delux collection for awhile. Would recomend to anyone who loves sci if. I love this series. The story and the art is so good. I can't wait for the next release.

Love love love this series!!! The characters are written so well and the dialogue is fantastic! Readers get more bits fleshed out as we see some aspects of Revival Day unfolding. Seeley's introduction of some new characters and ideas keep the book fresh and interesting. The story is not predictable in any way. It seems like new angles pop up ever other page. Mike Norton's art is spectacular. He does super creepy shock panels very well. Overall, a really good read. Jumping into the next volume now!

This story continues and develops about the revival of the dead, the cause of which is unknown. There are a lot of different characters quarantined in this small town in Wisconsin and it is sometimes difficult to remember who is who. Without Volume 1, this will all seem a bit mystifying. Good characterisation, particularly of the Cypress family, and illustrations of a high standard make this a compelling tale. One person found this helpful. See all 7 reviews.

It was believed by the late M. Leon Pages, on what authority I know not, that Senhor Merello, of Lisbon, a well-known collector, possessed a copy of the Catechism here referred to, but that gentleman has assured me that this is not the case, and that he has never even seen the edition in question. In his " Bibliographie Japonaise," M. Stella, imprime au Japon en latin et en japonais en It will be observed that he gives no place of impression, nor does he mention any library in which the book is to be found, as is his practice in the case of other rarities.

It is consequently in the highest degree probable that he never saw a copy, and that he made this entry on the authority of the " Lettera annua " which I have already quoted. Ignace, en latin, imprimesau Japon en ," and No. Table of Contents, 1 1 pp. Glossar ', 15 pp.

It is consequently in tlie highest degree probable that he never saw a copy, and that he made this entry on the authority of the " Lettera annua " which I have already quoted.

This Italian version very likely had the title of " Disprezzo del nuindo. Still it is altogether different from the " De imitatione Christi," as M Pages no doubt knew. If he had referred to either Cotton or Ternaux-Compans, and had then taken the trouble to inspect the volume in the Bodleian which they both mention, he would have avoided the manifest mistake in his " Bibliographie. From the list of MSS. Some had no title-page at all, but simply began: Et quidam totum libellum sic appellant scilicet libellum de imitatione Christi, sicut evangelium Matthei appellatur liber generacionis lesu Christi, Eo quod in primo capitulo fit mentio de generacione Christi secundum camem.

A perusal might, however, readily cause the latter to be adopted instead of the former, as at any rate a more correct, though not entirely comprehensive description of the contents, and this, as we have seen, was in fact done in some colophons. Tokis, or Tokoesi, a town of the island Niphon, in Japan? This Contemptus Mundi is now impressed on paper, after having been exactly translated from the Latin original at the instance of the Superiors of the Society of Jesus in Japan, several times revised, and its deeper meaning made easy. Since it is a matter of the greatest concernment to guide without stumbling those who desire to walk in God's way and to obtain salvation, the object aimed at has been to facilitate its perusal to those of the Society as well as to laymen.

And whereas this book contains many things most profitable, those who may read with the desire of obtaining special profit thereby, should understand that, wherever they may open it, they will find truths most important to them there written. Lastly, as this gift has been bestowed by God, who is the fountain of infinite good, let this book be constantly delighted in with a joyful and jubilant heart, let it be read and read over and over again, and be revered as the teacher of the path of virtue.
