The removable map is a boon as it went everywhere with us and despite being opened and re-folded a great many times, showed minimal signs of wear. The book itself is logically laid out in a district-by-district basis, and is a great starting point for identifying the main attractions. It provided a list of opening and closing times for the star attractions, a list that proved to be accurate.

The best feature is its diminutive size - it really can be easily carried everywhere, yet is still legible and clearly written. This really is an essential guide. What a brilliant book!!! We took this to Venice and it contained an excellent map so we didn't need the other one we bought , it also had some really useful tips on where to go and what to see. We read this from cover to cover on the way and would recommend this to everyone who plans a trip to Venice! Also had a map for using the boat taxis which is handy, as these can be confusing! Plus tips on getting from airport into Venice etc.

Bought this for my first visit to Venice, staying 7 days. I used the book and map all the time so would thoroughly recommend it. For me, that week was all about walking, boat bus stops and mini adventures. I tried using my google map on my phone a few times, but Venice is so full of tiny streets, squares and u-turns, the printed map is a better navigation tool.

Normally I have these DK books with me when I travel. They are normally a wrath of valuable information, no so this addition. Information is out of date and with Venice as you would expect maps are useless. Descriptions of squares full of life and events are incorrect. Opening times are also wrong.

But for me this is one city where the internet and just getting lost in the beauty of the location is the best way to see Venice. Have previously purchased a number of other DK travel guides for different countries, always similar standard, would recommend. Advertised as the perfect guide book and first impressions lead me to believe it will be.

Small enough to put in my bag and contains lots of useful information. Not sure how good the maps will be as quite small but didnt buy it for those as will get on on Venice. Tell you everything you need to know about Venice. Great if you're not a history nerd and can't be bothered to read all the signs when visiting the museums, this book gives you the quick and short version!

Great book as always from DK Eyewitness but having just visited Venice it appears the the map for the boats is not correct.
