But more advanced photographers will still find it useful too to get the best from their new Coolpix. It is a must have to unlock all the tricks and traps that Nikon left out. The book is so well written and well organized and misses nothing. If only I had seen the accessories appendix before the camera reached. I would have bought some extras, because the author has tested a a lot of third party add-ons that work well.

White has written a great book. You will miss out so much if you don't buy this Kindle book. I didn't understand how much more of a camera I was getting when I purchased it. Most reviews of the camera are written by people who are far more advanced in cameras and photography than I really gave thought to. They made it sound far easier than what I understood. The downloaded manual from Nikon is useless as far as I'm concerned and I started thinking about returning the camera when I found this book.
I needed something that told me the "why" of what to do and not just go here and set this. I need to take a lot and very specific photos in my volunteer work and I got the exact information I needed to get crisp shots under difficult circumstances. This book made me love my camera. The author literally goes step by step so that you know exactly what you are doing and he doesn't talk down while he's doing it. He seems to really care that it is about you getting great photos and that he's not just selling a book.

I packed it in my gear bag and used it as a quick reference through Italy, and came home with hundreds of great photos, some taken under less-than-ideal conditions. It's an excellent resource and a great companion to a supurb camera. Easy to use and understand a great manual for people who "don't read manuals". Clean style, great example pictures, easy to follow directions. It like a pro standing at your elbow to help. An excellent resource for the novice photographer using the Coolpix P camera. I was having some trouble understanding the user manual that came with the camera, but this book was a breath of fresh air to my grasping the concepts and uses of the camera.
Lots of great illustrations and easy to read text. Highly recommend to those technically challenged. Well written book that gives a great deal more information about the operation of the Nikon Coolpix P camera than you can find in the official manual. It gives detailed descriptions about settings that can be made and how they will affect the output of the camera.

If you need more information about the Nikon Coolpix P this book is for you. I really liked this book. We used this book and a one hour class fromour local photo shop. The combination of the two has really helped us learn how to use the camera. What I like is that I can find everything very easily. So, some items are just right for us. I read the entire book, and there are some features that we will never use - but I did not feel talked down to or snubbed becuase I am not ever going to be a "manual" camera user.
I recommend this - especially for someone who wants to go past point and shoot "auto" settings but not necessarily all the way to full "manual. See all 86 reviews.
