DANCE FOR A DIAMOND

EMMA DIAMOND

At some points, a rainbow circular light and a shining white light in the distance shine about. The light is likely to have been caused by the diamonds' reflections of light. At some point during the chorus the background zooms out with the dancer, revealing more diamond covered floor and as the dancer zooms back in strings of diamonds appear in the background. The background is completely white with the exception of the two bright blocks - one orange and the other red - used as seats.

A spotlight illuminates the walls and dancers at some points of the dance; it zooms in and out at some points. Make an arm circle going upward while lifting your left leg. Reach your right arm to the northeast. Make a circle the reversed way and make a diamond. This is the final move of the routine.

A series of checked three-turns is not acceptable as this does not constitute a single action.

Dance Rhythm

Lobe A curve that is representative of a part of a circle. We offer a variety of dates and times to accommodate different schedules. Feeling is one of whirling around the ballroom floor.

If the traveling action stops during the execution, the twizzle, it becomes a solo spin pirouette. The steps and timing, of course, must be accurate as per Rule Book descriptions. There must be consistency of movement and flow. Strong deep edges add feeling to the Rhumba. The double choctaw is the feature of this dance and must be well done. The choreography of this dance is complex and difficult with demanding holds and edges.

The Polka is an energetic light-hearted and somewhat bouncy dance. Good knee action, balance and rhythm are essential to the success of this dance. It can be skated strongly on deep curves with many changes of lobe. There are therefore steps and curves with more beats. Long, extended movements of arms and legs give this dance its character accentuated by fast light twizzles. Attention to correct positions on steps and turns is necessary.
