It's helped me keep sight of the light through some very dark times. I will miss Yotsuba's wild antics and the joy she brings with her goofiness. Thank you, Kiyhohiko Azuma, for allowing us to escape the craziness of life and relive the innocence of childhood. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. This time the early chapters were more episodic than usual, I thought. The first one wasn't even particularly funny, but very life-like: Yotsuba lost her way in the neighbourhood, comes across a small family-run udon restaurant and peers in the window to see an old man hand-making udon noodles.

And she goes in and badgers the people to look on a nice wink at the audience was her rhapsodising about supermarket udon noodles and the noodle maker carefully not reacting to her. When asked she's qui This time the early chapters were more episodic than usual, I thought. When asked she's quite willing to show her address on a piece of paper and her dad has to come and take her home. In the second chapter Yotsuba and her dad order Pizza and it takes a long time to come and then they eat it and Yotsuba has never eaten it before. The fun lies in showing all the waiting bits in between.

Azuma can really draw people in weird positions anatomically correctly. Considering he doesn't use a super-realistic manga style that's pretty cool, I think. The next chapter is Yotsuba and soap bubbles: Jumbo and dad are involved, but actually her dearest enemy Yanda has bought all kinds of amazing bubble-making tools and all of them play with them outside in the park because it gets really soapy indoors fast , with no feelings of self-consciousness whatsoever.

And then Yotsuba gets taken on a chestnut-collecting trip for the first time.

www.farmersmarketmusic.com: Yotsuba&!, Vol. 6 (): Kiyohiko Azuma: Books. yotsuba will make you lol all night. good book. i do not know if i am mixing it up. Yotsuba recycles! Gets a bike! Learns about sticky notes! And drinks some super- yummy milk which she then decides she has to share with EVERYONE!.

The biggest thing are the worms in the chestnut. The last few chapters are all interconnected however well actually the chestnuts show up in the last chapter, too , Yotsuba gets her own beginners camera and takes pictures. In her exploration of the neighbourhood it's hilarious how many of the grown-ups are quite willing to do the stupidest poses when asked by her. But when she shows Miura her new camera, they come across a big dog behind a fence on their way back to Yotsuba's house and Yotsuba manages to have the dog snatch her teddy Jourlamin from her because she basically teases it.

The scene of how she gets Jourlamin back Miura is too scared of the dog herself is brilliant, but then the dog stinks. And the girls decide to wash the teddy - and then it doesn't speak any more The portrayal of Yotsuba's real grief and her eventual enjoyment of being really, really sad is so well done - I remember these emotions being so intense but also enjoyable myself at that age. Sep 28, Garylikesmanga rated it it was amazing. Yotsuba never seems to disappoint. I'm not much of a laugher, but this volume had me laughing out loud at several moments Sometimes all it takes is something as simple as Yotsuba's reaction to something.

Truly an enjoyable series, and another excellent volume. It didn't have much in the way of stories that needed explanation of past volumes. Outside of a reference to Danbo, and no introductions to the existing characters, this would be a fine volume to pick up, even for people new Yotsuba never seems to disappoint. Outside of a reference to Danbo, and no introductions to the existing characters, this would be a fine volume to pick up, even for people new to the series. This series proves that you can still have a wholesome, light series provide big laughs and a fun read.

Jun 08, Elaine Lin rated it it was amazing Shelves: Another chapter of Yotsuba! Yotsuba is older now and she gets more mature but she's still a child at heart. I love her and i can relate to her because no matter how old I get, I know I'll still have this childish side to me that gets me going.

Society is very corrupt now and this book helps me get back to the pure, innocent times where childhood is all about learning, discovering and experimenting. The main character is a 7 years old girl called Yotsuba and she lives with her dad in country side. I like this series a lot because the little girl and her story are so cute and sometimes teach me good lessons.

In this book, Yotsuba's doll was broken. So, Asagi, 20 years old girl who lives next to Yotsuba's house, told her that she will fix the doll. Yotsuba thinks that his teddy bear is now dead because the sound is not co This book is about the everyday life story of ordinary Japanese family.

Yotsuba thinks that his teddy bear is now dead because the sound is not coming out. While Asagi was fixing her doll, Yotsuba was depressed all the time. So all the people tried their best to make her feel better.

At the end, Asagi finally fixed her teddy bear and Yotsuba became very happpy. I liked this series because every episodes are very cute and make me smile all the time. Jan 24, Yue rated it it was amazing Shelves: Hard to pick one favorite chapter between all of them.

Should it be the one with the pizza Yotsuba tasting pizza for the first time or with the bubbles Jumbo, Yanda, Yotsuba and her dad going to the park to play with the bubbles or with the camera Yotsuba getting her first camera, and taking pictures here and there or the last one, with Duralumin, the Teddy Bear? I have to confessed I cried a little bit well, my eyes were watery anyway in the last chapter. Duralumin was 'attacked' by a do Hard to pick one favorite chapter between all of them. Because the teddy went into the water, it could not talk anymore, and Yotsuba got so depressed! It was funny and a the same time, kind of sad to see her like that. This series is so cute!!!!! I'm convinced that his wackiness has rubbed off onto Yotsuba and not vice versa. I love how he plays along with her and let's her imagination run wild. I love how patient her dad is with how obnoxious she is with waking him up. Their dynamic is really sweet. This volume has so many hilarious moments, which isn't surprising since its focus is mainly on Yotsuba's adventures on her bicycle.

Her clumsiness will have you in stitches. Another really funny moment is seeing her sweat while anticipating Koiwai-san's discovery that she ate all the eclairs. I just love this kid. I especially love her while she devours a cheeseburger in front of her sworn enemy, Yanda. The nuances of the language and culture are better captured in this publication.

¡Yotsuba! Vol. 11

I much prefer the proper Japanese honorifics to the literal translations because The honorifics used are very telling of the type of relationship between characters, so I appreciate it being used here. Since the translations are more accurate, the puns are far funnier. If they happen to not translate well, a side-note is provided to explain the intention of the joke so you don't miss a beat.

No matter how low I may be feeling, I can always count on Yostuba to get me out of my funk. She's zany, fearless, and her zest for life is absolutely infectious. You can't help but fall in love with her.

Ngga sampai sejam kok, tapi kalian pasti akan merasa terhibur melihat segala tingkah laku Yotsuba: I completely love and adore Yotsuba, as a series and a character. Yotsuba is adorable and so hilarious, and I love the way everyone goes along with her. Her father has rules, and she does get in trouble when she breaks them like how she got grounded when she rode her bike too far out of the neighborhood on her own , but for the most part he lets her do what she wants like jumping on him.

They want her to stay happy and oblivious, and I love it. This is pretty much just a comedic series, with story for at least a chapter and long-running jokes, and some four panel strips. Aug 12, Emily rated it it was ok Shelves: Cute, but nowhere near as amusing as the first two or three volumes of this series. It's always sad when this happens. Also, it seems like maybe this volume was put out by a different publisher than the others in the series that I've read so far, and that is not a good thing. Instead of straight translations, various sound effects and honorifics are left in Japanese and footnoted to death.

I'm sure some fans are interested in that kind of accuracy, but I just find it irritating to be pulled out Cute, but nowhere near as amusing as the first two or three volumes of this series. I'm sure some fans are interested in that kind of accuracy, but I just find it irritating to be pulled out of story repeatedly for explanations, usually of things that are fairly obvious.

Yotsuba also made a number of cutesy speaking errors -- not vocabulary, but grammar -- the likes of which I had never seen before in this series and hope never to see again. I'll read on, but with lowered expectations. Assuming the end credits are correct, English translation duties for Yotsuba pass between Javier Lopez and Amy Forsyth. I wonder if that accounts for the variations in decisionmaking like changing the spelling of Yotsuba's middle neighbor from "Fuka" to "Fuuka. Also new in this volume is Forsyth giving both the romanization of the Japanese onomantopoeias that appear in character form throughout the Assuming the end credits are correct, English translation duties for Yotsuba pass between Javier Lopez and Amy Forsyth.

Also new in this volume is Forsyth giving both the romanization of the Japanese onomantopoeias that appear in character form throughout the book and an English equivalent. For example, when Yotsuba's father is drinking milk, it's "goku" in Japanese, but "gulp" in English.

I love this stuff! One of my favorite Spanish lessons when I first arrived in Mexico was on what the various animals say, like ki-kiri-ki for roosters, which is much more accurate than cock-a-doodle-doo. Jan 17, Larisa rated it liked it Shelves: In this book I think the main story is the fact that Yotsuba gets her first bike.

I picked this up because I have read the books that came before in the series and really enjoyed them. Once I get started I have to finish, Youtsuba is a very interesting and entertaining character, I really enjoy reading the books, so of course I finished it. I think anybody who can enjoy the childish innoncence that is very clear in Yotsuba can enjoy the series. Jan 13, Muhammad Irfan rated it it was amazing Shelves: Yotsuba diseri ini sungguh menggemaskan, dengan pintarnya si pengarang menggambarkan keluguan anak yang berumur 5 tahun secara tepat, walau cerita dari buku ini cukup enteng, memberikan beberapa pesan moral.
