I am a big Diane Chamberlain fan, and have read many of her books. This one was not my favorite. So many of her books have such huge twists, secrets and turns in them, that when I get a book like this one, which did have a twist and secrets, but not a great ones , it's a bit disappointing. But what I like about Diane's style of writing, is that even though the book wasn't one of her best, I never considered once putting the book down.

Diane has such a way of writing that I will sit down to read for 10 minutes before bed, and the next thing I know, it's been sn hour and I am still reading. And if she can make me do that to just a so-so book, you can imagine what reading one of her better books is like. So while I don't rank this one higher than 3 stars, I plan to start the second book in the series tonight. I have come to believe Diane Chamberlain is not capable of writing a bad book. But I do admit to some of them having more or better twists and turns than others.

Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. Anything Diane writes is going to be a good read. What I like the most about her books is that they draw you in right away. I actually started reading another one of her books, The Stolen Marriage. I wish I could get back all the time I lost trying to get through this book. It rambled on and on and on. I hated Olivia's husband so completely that I kept wondering why she tried so hard to get him to stay with her.

And one day she's trying to get him back and the next she's in love with someone else. It just didn't gel for me at all.

There was no foul language but there were explicit lovemaking scenes which I could have done without; however, the book kept my interest and kept me reading late into the night - a sign that it was a good book. I will be reading the rest of the trilogy because Chamberlain drew me in. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. The begin is quite interesting but then when you get to know the other characters and they are all very unlikable! Available in Russia Shop from Russia to buy this item. And one day she's trying to get him back and the next she's in love with someone else. Lots of twist and turns, this author always captures my attention to another wonderful doubt that I don't expect.

The only person in this book worth caring about was Alec and even he wasn't a strong enough character to hold my interest. Boring book that used four times as many words as needed to tell the story. Personally, I did not care for the 'star' of the story Annie. I thought she was a phony, wrongfully put on a pedestal by everyone who met her and fell in love with her.

Mostly, I liked the rest of the characters.

There was no foul language but there were explicit lovemaking scenes which I could have done without; however, the book kept my interest and kept me reading late into the night - a sign that it was a good book. This is the second book by this author I've read. I get these books to read when I want to just relax and not think a lot but be entertained. The plot is very good--you get real character development and the characters are real. While this might be categorized as a "romance," it is not your typical romance. Chamberlain deals with themes of marital breakup and betrayal, and the way that she writes the story leaves mysteries lurking in the background until the end.

You are kept in a state of anticipation, and always want to get back to the story. You learn a little about yourself by the way that you react to the various characters in this story, none of whom are perfect and some of whom do pretty bad things. Chamberlain writes at a level many notches above your typical romance or paperback fiction author, so for those of you who have a brain but want a book to relax and be entertained, I would highly recommend this and other books by this author. A mysterious and complicated, intriguing story. Lots of twist and turns, this author always captures my attention to another wonderful doubt that I don't expect.
