Trapani found himself reaching towards the music of the deep South, particularly Delta Blues, and exploring ways to incorporate stylistic elements into his own work. In the same way, fresh water is less dense than salinated or seawater with the same lessening effect upon buoyancy.

The purpose of a load line is to ensure that a ship has sufficient freeboard the height from the water line to the main deck and thus sufficient reserve buoyancy. The freeboard of commercial vessels is measured between the lowest point of the uppermost continuous deck at side and the waterline and this must not be less than the freeboard marked on the load line certificate issued to that ship. All commercial ships, other than in exceptional circumstances, [2] have a load line symbol painted amidships on each side of the ship.
This symbol is also permanently marked, so that if the paint wears off it remains visible. The load line makes it easy for anyone to determine if a ship has been overloaded. The exact location of the load line is calculated and verified by a classification society and that society issues the relevant certificates. This marking was invented in by Samuel Plimsoll. It was not until the Load Line Convention that there was international agreement for universal application of load line regulations. In the International Convention on Load Lines was concluded in London which re-examined and amended the rules. Rather than finding dark clouds and still swollen waterways, however the students found beautiful skies in the weeks following the flood. Using projections of underwater footage, the piece creates the experience of being submerged. As viewers navigate the space, immersing themselves in the darker water, their movements trigger the brighter, more lyrical videos made after the flood.
The abstract vignettes symbolize an attempt to interrupt the waters, just as the waters interrupted Columbia. Using the means of his local production company, he went to the homes of people affected by the flood to record video and photograph property loss and damages.

In Anatomy of a Flood , a three-way video installation, Sellers immerses the viewer in first hand testimonials interwoven with archival educational and news footage, and a new, narrative film of a scientist explaining the phases of the flood. Set to an aural landscape inspired by pulpy, Old Time Radio horror tales, his film Maggot is a fictional story of a teenager who enters a strange, semi-submerged house in a flooded river, and discovers hundreds of photographs floating inside. After taking some of the photos, the boy soon goes missing.
The piece appropriates rainbow-like bands from chromatography—a process whereby the chemical components of a mixture are revealed through color in such a way that they recall ribbons of gasoline floating on water or the remnants of a chemical spill left on the sides of a building.
