Refusing to show so much as shock at the intrusive thought, Atem tensed, ready for anything. This book took longer to read than the first. The vampire hunters I dislike Jackson and his family of vampire hunters. But maybe there is a way to redeem him? The jury is still out on that one. Vampire scents Yes, they smell.

Each vampire has a scent. I highly recommend reading book one Dark Heart of the Sun first. I really liked this book. It picked up very soon after I finished the first, which I definitely recommend you read prior to this one so that you understand the foundation of the relationship between Dominic and Cassidy. To me, this book is a step above the typical paranormal books we've probably all read. I think the story telling is awesome, it's a good story with a well written plot. To summarize, Dominic meets another vampire one night and turns down a path he cannot recover from.

He keeps secrets from Cass and their relationship is threatened--and that's just the first few chapters. From there we meet his maker and of course the Striker family is involved too. I liked the story, I liked the way things worked out and I'm hoping for more of Dominic and Cassidy's story. One person found this helpful. This second book in the saga of human Cassidy and her vampire love Dominic delivers a powerful punch.

From the first words, I was lost in a masterful plot that weaves through the lives of a woman who would risk her soul for the man she loves, the vampire whose soul she touches, and the man who is determined to destroy the vampire to save her. Each one is challenged beyond endurance as they face an ancient, unimaginably powerful vampire, impossible to defeat. I enjoyed the twist in the characters with turn of events.
