It is about the scary fact that even rich Malibu children are stuck zoning out in front of a giant TV set. Even Michael Jackson, who was eclectic and got out a lot, seemed to have this general problem with his own life. Is TV too major of an influence for our children?

Definitely a worthwhile but hard-to-find book. I couldn't remember the name and after searching and searching on various websites, it finally randomly came to me and I purchased the book.

It's odd, gross, suspenseful, uncomfortable, and not great literature, yet it's compelling and you feel transformed into the story. I will read this again and I'm so happy that I found it! Something happens to their caretaker, and it is partially their fault. Her creepy boyfriend wastes no time coming over to their house, terrorizing the kids.

It is up to the children to handle him. They band together and manage things that seem impossible. Oct 18, Jason Nickey rated it it was ok Shelves: This book should be called 'The Children Are Assholes'. Not a bad story, but the spoiled rich kids are very annoying. There isn't one likable character in the book.

I was expecting a lot more from this.
