I really enjoy your calligraphy posts and marvel at your artistry. I have only gotten as far in calligraphy as getting covered with ink when I try to open the ink bottle! My husband suggested calligraphy might not be my gift — oh well! Your blog is just lovely! What is better to use if watercoloring a piece, Drawing it in colored pencil first then going over with base color and such or using pencil then watercolor?

I still need a little help… I never know if I should add another layer of a darker shade while the previous one is still wet or if I should wait for it to dry. New to the watercolor thing. When I am done using them, they still have water in them. Do I dump the water out or just leave it there to dry until Next time?

Water in the paints themselves? Be careful with that though…I recently got a new color and it stained a large section of a plastic palette. Just make sure you leave the palette lid open so the water can evaporate out quicker. Once the paints are completely dry again, you can close the lid. I was thrilled to come across your water colour tutorial , thank you for putting this online for those of us interested in learning how to use W. I have only skimmed through it for now and what I have seen looks very helpful. You have many categories of learning to choose from.

Check it out from the library before purchasing. Excellent examples for creating texture I have read quite a few watercolor technique books but this is the first o e with so many examples of how to use different techniques. Each example takes you from sketch to a finished painting in several steps with photos of each step.
