Now that has surfaced in a pair of stylish and lightweight scramblers that look like a lot of fun. Loz Blain November 13, We're not quite sure what's going on over at Ural Motorcycles lately. After nigh on 70 years making the same basic, soft-road capable sidecar outfits, the company has recently done a Star Wars tribute, a mobile drone station, and now, of all things, an electric sidecar prototype.

Automating a study question methodology to enhance analysis in high level architecture by Michael Rauhut Book 4 editions published in in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide The Department of Defense DoD uses simulation for many purposes. Early computer based distributed simulation support environments allowed individual models to communicate with each other but fell short of providing a general distributed simulation solution until the advent of High Level Architecture HLA.

HLA allows users to combine sub-models into one simulation, but it employs a subscription based communications scheme that did not exist in previous support environments. Analysts often use a decompositional approach to identify measures of effectiveness MOE measures of performance MOP , and data requirements for studies and tests.

Fundamental study questions or operational requirements are decomposed until supporting data from tests and simulations are identified. This thesis formalizes this decompositional process, calling it the Study Question Methodology SQM and procedurally describes the steps all analysts should use to establish a clear audit trail from question to data inputs. But I swear I wanted to write "into" both times — but then I found "to move in" for "umziehen" or "einziehen" somewhere in the Leo forum and then put it that way — next time I better rely on my own mind.

And I also appreciate the heading "Crossover Chat" very much ;- Some small correcturitos hm--us: A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines. Comment Using LEO-forums seems to be practically impossible today. Google had to help me to find this thread. I just learned that I could have used tdict instead. That looks much better! Comment Something's definitely amiss. Will try again later. Comment LEO's working again: I'm happy to hear you liked A Passage to India!

Robert, I didn't know this quote, either - thank you! Comment I assume I should clear the table. Cheese sandwiches are not that popular among snails, are they? Comment Oh, no, I love cheese in any and every form! For those with more of a sweet tooth, I have about three quarters of a black forest cherry pie? Comment Taking a piece of cherry pie, thank you! In spite of the amount of alcohol, the cream could get sour in the actual weather conditions Comment If I have alcohol so early in the day, I'll probably fall asleep, but thanks all the same, shhh.

So maybe I'll try a piece anyway It's a great house and I even understood most of it! Was that on purpose, I wonder, or were you simply disctracted? You can go back all the way to or whenever I first posted and you won't find any kind of claim that I can count. I might fib occasionally, but I'd never lie that blatantly. It was quite a pageturner but in the end had too many twists for me and was trying too hard. By the way, there are more 'gaols' in there, for those of you who followed the 'gaol' thread in the Sprachlabor, and this time the author is English.

Comment Thank you harambee , for the wonderful new home. I knew you'd do it well! Furtehermore I agree with Carullus: We've got a CC again With regard to the "nice girl"-sentences I'd prefer "quite nice" Years ago an Englishman in a Japanese Restaurant in Florida! Don't blame me, Robert -: There might be differences between AE and BE regarding this. I do remember that one can amphasize the negation I can not, I do not by separating the not without using italic letters.

In Germany we call phrases like this not following rules "dicherische Freiheit". The quality is far better than any mp3! Especially for DDD recordings.

In AE, acoording to "to catalog", I'd write "cataloging". What's your opinion under the light of this? My aide memoire were the German aquivalents: That one belongs to Robert". This is for you, candice - The problem with my AMD is that the letters vanish, becoming light grey instead of black. Thus I can hardly read my own writing. After "sending" the letters are larger and higher in contrast so I read it all again and correct mistakes before a posting stops me. But I've gotta hurry Ralph Waldo Emerson I heard his name before but was not really aware of his works. Looked it up in wiki - and do not fully agree with his self-reliance-theory.

But who am I How can I get a quarter of it? Please add it to a PM asap! Want a piece of Stachelbeertore in return? Comment I'd love a piece of Stachelbeertorte, RenaRd! Does it come with a meringue top? Comment It's a great house and I even understood most of it! I thought it was the right time for trying something completely different: I don't promise that I will buy it, but I will look at it. No meringue I had to look it up! Isn't it a dance, too?? Nobody wondered what "dicherische Freiheit" was? I guess you all know where to insert the missing "t" Ihr Englisch ist sehr gut, also bitte verwirre sie nicht.

Hier im CC bieten normalerweise nur Muttersprachler Korrekturen. Nicht so aufregend, aber gesund. Comment Thank you, hm! Comment Thanks, hm--us - I'm never sure about cake vs. What do you call it if you have several layers of sponge cake with cherries and whipped cream in between? Is that a cake? I thought that everything with a filling was a pie. How would you define cake and pie, respectively? Comment Look, what I've found well after a hint in the today's newspaper: Munich's Fast Train Net in 6-gear-English.

Покупки по категориям

Comment Thank you, harambee, for the nice shell. And Gibson is right - it is easy to understand: I would not call the Black Forest Cake a pie - there is generally more cream than cherries in it not to mention the alcohol. Hm, I take the cannelini - raw broccoli is not really my cup of tea and in my theory the reason why kids don't like to eat their veggies: Comment I'm glad to read that you had no serious tornados in your area, hm -- us.

A few corrections regarding As a rule of thumb I'd suggest taking "kennen" whenever it is followed by a noun or a pronoun serving as an object. Probably not always true, but hopefully useful as a rule of thumb?! If, however, a subordinate clause follows, wissen is probably the right verb E. Ich kenne einige Ausnahmen. I'm somehow afraid that that is once again a regional thing. This sounds like "most of the time" or maybe like "most of the cakes of that sort".

You probably did not want to say that. Instead you probably wanted to ask whether there were many cherries in the cake. Comment Fast Train Net - you made my day, bluesky!! Comment Is gateau used in AE? Dixie, the later Hoegs were very stange, I thought, but I still love Smilla and Borderliners no idea what's that in the Danish original. They're two of my favourite books although that's really a long list, I have lots of favourite books, so I'm not sure what that means, exactly. I must admit that I've never heard of any of the others - I thought the first was a typo for "Oscar Wilde", at first, until I realised the topic ; Edit: Comment Just flicked on the TV and heard that two guys with a machete killed a cadet in London, openly in the street, and were then shot by the police.

There are rumours that this was terrorist attack, but I kind of think that that would be the first rumour anyway, whether it's true or not. I hope it wasn't that. But it's being taken seriously enough that Cameron is interrupting his visit to Paris and is flying home tonight. One of his books was basis for a movie in the late 80's "Pelle, the Conqueror" maybe that rings a bell: Vielleicht sieht penguin die Frage und kommt zu Hilfe, oder Dragon oder jemand anders liest auch mit.

Oder ein Deutschsprecher -sprachler? Oder besser gesagt, nur wenn man nur zwei Optionen hat -- einen korrekten Satz und einen falschen. Gateau is indeed in BE the same as Torte in German at least in my world. I guess for the rest it is very difficult as most other types of cake are "-kuchen" in German but there is a variety in English. I like boiled broccoli - a lot, I just don't like it raw, I find it boring: Du hast den Tag gerettet.

Ach, du lieber Himmel, Hemmele! Die Karte ist vielleicht lustig! Ein Buch von Scherfig habe auch ich. Gateau sagen wir selten im AE. Comment Very interesting discussion about cake words! I hope I'll remember that gateau is BE. Ich kenne Gateau nur als BE. Ich lese auch gern Borges, z. Thanks for reminding me to reread Smilla's Sense of Snow: Comment About cakes, pies, gateaux? I think the main problem is that the "culture" of such pastry developped in a different way in some countries and there are often even local varieties.

I know that there are in the meantime some places in the US which serve nice things, chains like "Cheesecake factory" and some local places e. In Germany you will still have often different shops. I think it is very common to drop the long name It is also very common in the meantime that you will find in the supermarkets a wide selection of these things deep frozen. Comment Walter, talking about Amish County. No matter what kind of store you go in, they always offer you a piece of "Shooflypie".

musik ben zucker Special-purpose brushes

That is very kind but I just came out of a restaurant with a bufett almost as long as a football field. So after the third store I stopped hopping because the Shooflypie came out of my ears and my bloodsugar went up like a rocket. Comment So anything with sponge cake can't be a pie, correct? Because pie never has fluffy dough? OK, I think I can keep that in mind: Comment 50 has to be " s hopping". I may offer my memory hook.

I just asked you for your opinion. This made you huffy? Of course I know your English is better than mine. Two questionmarks should have indicated I was joking, playing with words lile you did here. I really like to be corrected and you do it in a professional way. I'm here to improve my skills - but I've got some already!

Comment RenaRd, please consider taking the advice that we normally only give corrections and explanations on questions regarding our native language. That should not prevent you from commenting on English grammar problems, but your intuition should tell you where your comments may be less helpful. In thoses cases you can always ask. The "this-that"-problem is one I wasn't aware of before I started attending the CC. I thought it was quite easy, but I learned the hard way that German and English concepts are different in this??

I'm still struggling from time to time and I get a lot of welcome correcturitos, but at least I have developed some kind of awareness for the problem. As always, being aware of a potential problem can increase the likelihood of mistakes, as there are examples where I would have intuitively chosen the right word in the past, but start thinking nowadays.

Comment I just picturegoogled shoofly pie - and I think it would be a great temptation for me, too, Steve!! Comment That made me curious, Goldammer, but I must say, shoofly pie doesn't really look like my thing. But then, if everybody liked the same things, the world would be a boring place, wouldn't it? Comment RenaRd - I actually wanted to keep quiet about the whole issue, but since you started to pick on hm-us, who basically just wanted to help and to explain things, I feel compelled to give my two cents as well.

In a way, yes. We do need your advice - but only in an area where you consider yourself an expert. And since there are lots of people around in the CC who have an excellent command of English or German as a foreign language, the only real experts who can correct them are usually the native speakers. So it has been a rule here for a long time to offer corrections only for your own native language. There are always exceptions from time to time, of course.

Here you also need to consider that hm-us has known me for quite some time now, and it's not that she doesn't know a simple rule, but that she is well aware that I obviously know the basic rule that you offered. She was just telling me that - other than that? Just have a look at harambee's examples in his last post. Your rule doesn't help there. This is what you said to hm. Well, her English is not "better", it's her native language! And that's the point. That said, I hope you don't feel offended by my comments now. Don't hesitate to write and participate, to discuss and to chat about things - be it opera or whatever ;-.

This is the idea of the CC. And please don't refrain from making comments or offering corrections, but please stick to your own native language here. This is where you are an expert and where others - whose native language is not German - can benefit from your expertise. Ten mixed choirs presented themselves to an international jury in two competition rounds on Saturday and Sunday. The prize winners are: Comment I just did the same as Goldammer and have to agree - shoofly pie just looks delicious. Is anyone volunteering baking it so we all can have a piece?

Where am I here? Old friends for years mobbing the new boy in school?? That was my angry first reaction about your interaction here. On the other hand I started a dispute with nobody but hm 'cause I was not aware of the strength of rules in this chat room. I heard that "normally we don't.. Which means it was no normal situation. I'll try to follow the rule henceforth.

And I still hope that hm is going to answer my queries himself. Whenever a collegue, boss, client or teacher said "I'm not sure" I took the liberty of offering a proposal. Sometimes the person replied "Oh I know that , my question was about this You see, harambee, I've got no problem at all! My English got rusty and there's still a lack of vocabulary I'm admiring some of the snails in here , but I worked in an international company for years being responsible for clients in Belgium, Ghane, Kenya and Nigeria.

When it's intuition it's the intuition basing on experience, not guessing. With regard to grammar rules: In real life it's good to know a perfect answer but, a half-correct answer is better than none. I had so many discussions about grammar and found, that no ENS really cared "I learned it in school, haha, can't remember".

If there are mistakes in this posting don't hesitate to name them. I can't always wait 'til a teacher is in Comment The reason I hang out in the CC and none of the other chat rooms or other threads in Leo is because this is a very peaceful place, where there might be a heated discussion about a topic, but people are polite and friendly to each other and everyone visiting is respecting this. New people are always welcome with the customary questions about credit card and shoe size - and expected to follow the written and unwritten rules.

I would really appreciate to keep this the way it is. One of the unwritten rules is that only native speakers offer corrections - for anything else the rest of Leo is often only far too willing for a controversial, heated and not always friendly discussion. CC is the zen garden and it should stay this way, please. Comment RenaRd, nobody is mobbing you. We know that you are relatively new here, and we know you might not know all the sometimes unspoken rules, which is why harambee took the time to politely explain them to you.

We assume that you make any and every mistake in good faith and not out of spite. Please assume the same about the corrections other people offer.

Side Refine Panel

And please don't generalize your experiences with other English native speakers. The people who post here are very interested in grammar and the finer points of language. That is why we came here in the first place. Comment I can only wholeheartedly support Dixie's Sorry, RenaRd, but I will not do that for a very simple reason.

In my opinion there is only one situation where I would seriously consider breaking the aforementioned rule, and that is when a quite unexperienced learner of English contributed to the CC and made very obvious mistakes. We had that in the past. However, if a GNS offers such corrections he would somehow claim that his English was clearly superior to the English of the snail being corrected.

We don't have that situation now. RenaRd, I have no reason to assume that my English is better than yours, so I will not correct you. We may differ in our strong points and our weak points regarding the language, but the differences are not that obvious. So, if you really want corrections from me, your English has to deteriorate a lot. I would not be angry with you if you corrected my postings, but I would somehow feel that it would be inappropriate. There are some snails whose English is much better than mine, e. In addition, they have proven their very good command of English for a long time.

So, it would be much more natural if they corrected my postings. But even they will normally not do it and I think that is part of the philosophy of the CC. Comment I hope there was not unpolite word in one of my postings! I agree with all of you: But I ask everybody of you to follow the thread: Samebody asked - I didn't asnwer. Some ENS answered - but seemed to be unsure. I was aware of the "only ENS"-rule somehow but, I forgot obviously. I "normally" dislike to correct others anyway I rarely do but I love to help. The situation would have been much easier for me at least if you had waited for hm's response instead of echoing "You broke a rule!

You broke a rule". I'm sorry to admit: If ever someone will be saying "2 x 2? I don't know" I'll be the first to yell "4! Though I'm no mathematican! Can you forgive me in advance? Comment The terms "bull" and "china shop" come to mind. Comment Beg your pardon? That sounds unfriendly, whoever it was addressed to. Comment Ok, RenaRd, I think the step where you went wrong was: I don't agree with that assessment. And - please don't take that as a personal attack - your simple rule missed the point by some margin.

It just is not as easy as you made it. That is not a problem, most people I know have made a mistake or even two in their life ;- And when you reread that part of 25, RenaRd, you can perhaps agree that it can be interpreted as a statement of somebody who thinks he knows better and wonders why the other snails do not even know about that simple rule. If there are no really new aspects I will now withdraw from this discussion. I think I have said more than once what I wanted to say. Comment So, for the leftpondians, any camping trips planned for the upcoming long weekend?

The first bank holiday this year for me - if I discount the one I had while being in Europe. I was always told that Memorial Day is the start of the camping season in the US. Although, maybe a ski trip is better, the news showed snow at Crystal Mountain. Although the discussion may be closed already, I just wanted to drop my "two cents" as well. As RenaRd, I am still a really "newbie" in this chatroom. And because it would take me hours to write it in English I now switch to German which I normally would not do. Wir sind nicht hier, um die Postings von anderen zu durchsuchen, also bitte unterlasse das.

I liked both very much! It does not happen so often that a film version appeals to you as much as the book does. Here am I, after harambee invited me so nicely to participate more often! Thanks a lot for your lovely new shell!

Your highlights, short and snappy, made all the snails happy! By the way you should be awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace! Sorry for jumping ship so to say; apparantly I never stick to the resolution I have made, but you don't need me to run the CC without me of course. I think RenaRd doesn't have any reason to complain, since the snails have been pretty understanding and patient so far. I absolutely agree with everything that has been said about being polite, minding one's p's and q's etc. Last night I watched another rerun of Persepolis and was completely under its charm again.

Then I came accross an interview given by Winifred Wagner and was totally shocked about the way she talked about her friend Hitler. I didn't watch all the interview because it was getting late. I haven't read Frl. As I know now that Hoeg's style is considered boring, I never will! Were there other writers in the twenties who criticized colonialism? I also liked "Der Schatten des Windes", but not the other two volumes of the triology.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, I will divulge the secret about how kisan arranges her books: I don't hesitate any more to chuck books. I either sell them in the internet - thanks lore - or give them away. Edith asks whether Luigi has already got out of the fridge.

Comment Luigi is definitely somebody's turtle, but I don't remember whose. Sorry about my sieve brain Something feels slightly unusual here I think, I'd say: Comment Hi hm , hi Goldammer Quite right, Luigi is atalante's turtle.

By the way, thanks for the doorlets, hm, even if that was already some threads ago. Looks like Lara is going to move July, 1rst. Edith is asking , delete without me. Comment Small doorlet for Lara: Sie haben eh nur Staub ab gefangen. Although I like the picture of abgefangen intercepted I can see them going on a hunt for dust so it does not bother Lara: I know the feeling of a clean apartment at move-out time.

It is really odd. Although I have friemds whose place always is neat and clean. I will have to clean before tomorrow evening, I am having visitors and so far I am not fully done with putting my travel stuff away. Comment I guess I'd really like some of Lara's tchotchkes, if they really "abfangen" - absorb dust. One in every room and I'd never have to dust again, or at least only to free from dust this one thing in every room every now and then. I did my cleaning work already today, so this sounds rather tempting to spare all the work the next time ;- "tchotchkes" is an interesting word.

Never heard it before. Where does it come from? It sounds somehow indian to me btw. I would really appreciate to keep ing this room the way it is.

Comment Staub gefangen, danke. Die tchotchkes haben leider keinen "Sauber"-Zauber. Ich bin aber gerne gut vorbereitet und habe schon angefangen, Sachen, die ich nicht benutze, in Kartons zu stecken. Comment Thank you for the doorlet, Amy, here is one in return: My favourite pie is Banoffee pie. Although I would say the pie part is slightly misleading. Still, it is yummy!

Comment A slightly complicated "donkey bridge". It's just the other way round: Everything too fast, and I helpless sluggishly snailish, mostly too leerhirnig. Way too many things to do, hard to find quietness to work on own stuff at least they finally finished working on the roofing of our laboratories, intolerable noise, so now only inner disquietness needs to be overcome.

Unfortunately unable to follow the recent dicussions. Noticed only belatedly that Amy-MiMi mentioned wine to allure me in the previous premises. As for books, I'm in a quite unfortunate situation, with almost all of them being far away, in my rightpondian home. Most of the numerous field guides on flora and fauna would be useless here, but I miss some bird books, dealing with South American species, and world monographs on certain groups. And with all the long-ago personally-read paperback fiction far away, I don't know if this implies some sort of liberation, or more homelessness.

As for some of the books mentioned previously: Easy to read and quite entertaining and suspenseful, but without substance, and the ending is simply preposterous, as far as I can remember. How is the third part? Forgot what else I wanted to write. Comment To make things a bit more complicated for Amy-MiMi: I druck den Knopf.

About the author

Many people, the report explained think that London is rainy all over the year but forget that London is too warm only, due to the Golf Stream, for a lot of snowfall. Unfortunately, the building process was quite strenuous and we had to do without kisan for most of CC Comment It's a great house and I even understood most of it! But then, my gut feeling got very unreliable since the spelling reform. I started a dispute with nobody but hm 'cause I was not aware of the strength of rules in this chat room.

I druck mir den Bericht aus, den i gestern gschrieba hab. Comment Never mind, Amy. At least it seems not only me who finds it a bit confusing. A while after I wrote my question I remembered a story I once heard or read: Once when he appeared with that song - I think it was at some American TV show - he suddenly found himself on stage surrounded by people in Native American's outfit Comment I had not known the word "snappy" and when I read kisan's post I was wondering "Bin ich schnippisch?

Yes, occasionally I am, and I even admit that I like being it sometimes. However, I had some hope that it was not that bad please no answer to that rhetorical question without question mark ;-. In addition, it sounded a bit strange that me being "schnippisch" made all snails happy.
