It's extremely in depth, looking at every angle of the score, it's relationship with the film, the cultural significance of both the film and the score, the orchestration, the overall thematic elements, etc. I can only imagine how many times the author must have seen the film. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Excellent analysis of a superb film score from one of my favorite film composers--Danny Elfman. David Arnold and John Williams are my other favorite composers. This book is a very interesting read. It is full of details about Danny Elfman's history and how he got to where he is today: I had hopes of learning more about Elfman's compositional style and method.

I had hopes of seeing some of the scores from the "Batman" film in order to study his methods better.

That not what I got. There is at best 30 measures of actual music in the book, and of those 30 or so measures they are partial scores that focus on individual individual groups instead of the score as whole.
