The Story of Salvation (The Amazing Journey Series Book 9)

During the time of the Judges, the Israelites kept asking for a king. Saul, by God's favor, became the first king. He was followed by David, who was known for his great leadership and for making Jerusalem the center of worship. David's successor, his youngest son, Solomon, was famous for his wisdom and for building the Temple. Unfortunately, the kingdom was beset by trouble and was divided in two - Israel and Judah.

The period that followed is known as the time of the Prophets. Three of the major prophets are Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel. Isaiah's prophecies are particularly significant to Christians, since he foretold the coming of the Messiah, who would be known by this sign: As foretold by Isaiah; around the year 4 B. He was named Jesus from the Hebrew meaning "God saves". From an early age, Jesus, born both fully human and fully divine, displayed a very special relationship with God, whom he referred to as Father.

Covenant with Abraham

For those three days, he had to rethink his understanding of the Old Testament and of the preaching he had heard from men like Stephen. In Acts, Saul Paul is the key figure in the evangelization of the Gentiles. Yeah, I vote no on that one. Our story is humanity's story, and begins before time was even measured. Even if you have no experience with this world and the characters in it, you could probably still start here and then go back and read them all! When I study a passage, my first task is to read it over and over until I know what questions need to be answered.

As an adult, Jesus made God's Word come to life in the midst of those with whom he lived. Jesus performed miracles, taught with parables, and befriended the outcasts of society. At the Passover, Jesus ate the traditional seder with his disciples - He took the bread, blessed it and broke it, saying, "Take and eat: The local leaders were threatened by Jesus and his ministry, and had Him arrested, tortured, and crucified. Three days after He died, His tomb was found empty. I don't know where my mind was when I agreed to review this one.

I guess the craziness going on with my very ill mother is playing around with my mind. But since I did I went along for the ride. This is my first time reading N. Walters and I have to say that I enjoyed it. I liked the fact that they are both older, of course being paranormal the word older doesn't mean the same as it does to us, but all the same you felt their age.

August 9, I cannot begin to explain how amazing this journey was and this book is.

Silly I know, but that's how I felt. I understood why Elise felt the way she did and why she was reluctant to jump into anything. I'm so glad that Mikhail was so sweet with her. The romance in this book just rocks! For the most part this book can be read on it's own. It only slightly touches on prior characters of course for me that always drives me crazy that's why I read in order. The story slowed at times but not enough to make you get pissed about it.

I'm glad I gave this one a chance and will have to go back to the beginning of this series someday and read them in order. Well worth the read! It seemed to go a tad slow. I know it had to, to be realistic. Elise went through abuse and it would take time to overcome it. Mikhail was a saint, a true saint, to be so patient and put off his gratification like he did.

Now they both were middle aged, but they were written like they were not. Jun 05, WycEd Reader rated it it was amazing Shelves: I had finally reached the point in the book where I felt confident that Mikhail and Elise were going to get their happily ever after. Yes, my friends, the mere knowledge that N. Walters always delivers a happy ending was not enough this time around.

I know, I know. No easy feat there and Walters certainly put these two through the wringer. Having just read the previous two books in the series in preparation for reading Wolf of Her Own, I was excited to begin reading — so much so that I rearranged the blog calendar so that I could read it first. So, while newbies can easily read this as a standalone, series fans might want to give Wolf in His Heart a quick skim to refresh your memory. Either way, I loved watching Elise find herself again.

After escaping decades of physical and emotional abuse by Pierre, her former mate, Elise has built a quiet, solitary life at Salvation, enjoying time spent with her sons, their mates, their children, and other pack members. But when Mikhail finally makes his interest known, she realizes that her past still haunts her and Pierre has a stranglehold on her from beyond the grave. And he needed every ounce of patience and then some when it came to courting Elise.

But Mikhail not only accepted that challenge, he counted every obstacle overcome along the way as a win for both him and Elise because at the end of the day, Mikhail is as much a nurturer as Elise is. One of the benefits of the slower pace of their courtship is that I felt I got to know both characters better.

As Mikhail worked to coax Elise out of her protective shell, we got to watch her bloom and become the woman she was meant to be — full of love, full of life, and full of humor. The pie cutting scene alone made the book worthy of five stars. Much like Mikhail, I was inordinately pleased when Elise began to tease him, even more so when she disagreed with him without hesitation. The changes in her were clear signs to Mikhail and the reader that Elise was comfortable with him and having him in her life — even if it took her far too long and the appearance of a dangerous threat for her to realize it.

Of course, the final chapters I read this morning were the perfect ending to the book. I did not expect Walters to use several jumps in time to pack quite so much into the ending and it worked spectacularly. Walters to read and review. May 25, Elaine rated it it was amazing Shelves: Mikhail is such a brilliant character - definitely an Alpha but so patient and caring yet strong and resilient! This is a lovely paranormal romance with two older werewolves learning to trust and love.

Mikhail really does court Elise, their romance is heartwarming and sweet as he is just so considerate of her all the time - the antithesis of her first mate! The reactions of her sons and other members of the pack are so well portrayed, it was so easy to empathise with them! I requested and was given a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

Apr 24, Nikki Brooks rated it it was amazing Shelves: Yay, older characters finding love! OK they might look like they are my age but they are werewolves so are actually in their 60's! Mikhail has been living with the Salvation Pack since his sister married into it. He feels he should move on now she is settled but something is holding him back Elise is everything he wants in a mate but she is the Alpha's mother.

She is also a domestic abuse survivor. He really wants to brink that fecker back to life so he can kill him h Yay, older characters finding love! He really wants to brink that fecker back to life so he can kill him himself! Elise has ensconced herself in a safe little bubble. She has the respect and protection of the pack but with the exception of family she is still kind of removed from them by her status as Alpha's mother. Her cabin is well away from everyone and they treat her with kid gloves.

Salvation History

But is this what she needs to move forward with her life? Companionship if not love would go a long way to soothe her loneliness. Mikhail could be just who she needs but she doesn't want to be under anyone's thumb again and she doesn't know if she can be fully mated to someone like Mikhail, someone who can make her feel. I haven't read this series before how the heck did that happen!!! The domestic abuse thread is handled with love, care and attention and whilst a victim, Elise is not in any way shape or form a weak characters, she has a spine of steel when needed.

I loved the way the pack took her and Mikhail to their collective hearts and banded around them. The scene with the "bad guy" had me choking back tears and cheering at the same time. I loved the way Elise refused to be cowed. I am going to have to get the rest of the series now - one click it is has struck again and the wish list has probably grown by a good few too!!!

May 17, Cathy Geha rated it it was amazing. Wolf of her Own by N. Walters Salvation Pack 9 You know that story that ends and you wish you could stay with the characters just a little bit longer? I felt that I would have liked to stay with Mikhail and Elise…and the rest of the Salvation Pack…and gotten to know them all a bit better….

Mikhail knew Elise was for him when he first saw her but with her rough past he also knew he would need to pick his time to woo her carefully. That said, when he made his move…OH MY! Mikhail is a man that one would want for their own and I loved the way he was patient, generous and caring as he courted Elise. Elise was one of the strongest heroines I have met in a book and her growth from a bit repressed to the wolf she was meant to be was a pleasure to observe.

I wish the two of them long lives and all the happiness life has to offer! Mikhail and Elise were just a sweet couple. Jacques dad was a real piece of work and treated his family horrible. The abuse Elise went through at the hands of that man was heart wrenching. Mikhail is so protective and patient with her that it makes my heart happy.

This is a book about them, and the steps they go through to achieve the hea they both want We get a protective and patient alpha male and a sweet, deserving of an hea, female. Definitely one of my favorite series, fingers crossed there will be more. Walters for writing this great series and creating such a wonderful pack. Apr 21, Questian rated it it was amazing Shelves: All thoughts and opinions are my own. I must say, this is a book that is really worth waiting for. From the start, till the end, I was so giddy with each turn of the page.

There was the right amount of conversation, and thoughts, that it did not overwhelm each of the scene in every chapter. What touched my heart, was the purity of the emotions Mikhail and Elise as you progress. The pain from the past, and the fear to reach out for the future. You will experience a roller coaster of emotions, yet in the end, the satisfaction is there. The Salvation Pack has grown. Each member grew up from the first till this book. Their relationship is evident on how they take care of their own. Walters, took it a step further. I salute you for creating such a wonderful book.

I was also reading the Hades' Carnival series, while I was reading this book. I saw the changes of her writing style. I must applaud her, as a reader of her books, the chance to read her older books, gave me a glimpse on how she wrote before. She improved, and her improvement was outstanding. I look forward to reading the Drakon 5th book! Jun 03, Tricia Len rated it it was amazing Shelves: May 28, Romance Schmomance Malia rated it liked it Shelves: Walters since her Drakon series, I'm absolutely in love with those steamy dragons, so I couldn't pass up the chance to dive into another one of her series.

Even though this was standalone and you could easily fall along with who all the characters were and their relation to each other, I just wish I had a bit more background about all of them.

Wolf of Her Own (Salvation Pack, #9) by N.J. Walters

I think it would have helped me more with the story. So I'll definitely be visiting the other wolves in this series! I couldn't tell you the last time I've read a book where the couple was older, even though they're both in their 60s, being wolves they definitely don't look it. Apparently, that's when they're in their prime! Mikhail and Elise are characters you will both love, it was such a sight to see the love grow between these two even though Mikhail probably fell in love the first time he saw Elise.

After months of keeping his distance, Elise forces him to make his presence known in front of her.

It served to dramatically illustrate what happens whenever anyone is drawn to faith in the Lord Jesus. Paul was as Jewish as one could get, and yet he was not saved. His Jewish zeal did not and could not save him. He would later write:. Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were possible by works. The only true Jew is the Jew who embraces Jesus as the Messiah, by faith receiving the salvation He accomplished at Calvary:. He is our father in the presence of God whom he believed — the God who makes the dead alive and summons the things that do not yet exist as though they already do.

You will remember that when the apostles chose a replacement for Judas, they required that this person must have seen the risen Lord Acts 1: In fact, I worked harder than all of them — yet not I, but the grace of God with me.

Wolf of Her Own

It is important to note that in his conversion experience, Saul not only saw the risen Lord, he was given a very specific commission. Jesus spoke to Saul, and he spoke to Jesus. Jesus was and is alive; His body was not decaying in a Jerusalem tomb see Acts 2: Those with Saul could testify that something unusual, even supernatural, took place, but they were not privileged to see all that he saw.

They did not see the risen Lord Jesus. Things would never be the same after Saul came to faith. In Acts, Saul Paul is the key figure in the evangelization of the Gentiles. No wonder we find three different accounts of his conversion in the Book of Acts. One can hardly overestimate the impact Paul has had on Christianity. The final question which I raised at the beginning of this lesson is this: What an encouragement for us to pray for the salvation of the lost!

To press this even further, our text should prompt us to diligently pray for those who seem least likely to be saved. It may be a relative, an associate at work, or a friend to whom we have witnessed over a long period of time, but seemingly in vain.

Paul was hopelessly lost. He not only rejected Christ, he actively opposed Him. But God intercepted Saul and stopped him in his tracks, dramatically saving him and radically transforming his life. God can do that to anyone. It is ultimately His doing. We need only petition the God who finds no pleasure in the destruction of the lost, but delights in the salvation of lost sinners. The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some regard slowness, but is being patient toward you, because he does not wish for any to perish but for all to come to repentance 2 Peter 3: We must pray much more for the salvation of the lost, and then ask that He will use us as He draws sinners to faith.

The account of the conversion of Saul is a great text for those who have not yet come to faith in the Lord Jesus. We read that Saul came face-to-face with Jesus of Nazareth. Someday every unbeliever will come face-to-face with Jesus as their Judge:. And just as people are appointed to die once, and then to face judgment Hebrews 9: You lived then in debauchery, evil desires, drunkenness, carousing, drinking bouts, and wanton idolatries.

When He returns to this earth, our Lord will judge those who have persecuted His saints:. The difference is that when Saul stood before our Lord, it was so that he might be saved from judgment. When men stand before our Lord at His second coming, there will no longer be an opportunity for salvation, but only for judgment.

However, the one who holds him back will do so until he is taken out of the way, 8 and then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will destroy by the breath of his mouth and wipe out by the manifestation of his arrival. Do not wait until it is too late, my friend. Trust in Jesus today. In this way — and this way only — you will find the forgiveness of your sins and the gift of eternal life. If you think you are too good to need salvation, remember that Saul was zealous for his religious faith, but he was terribly lost and in need of salvation.
