Todays Devotional Thoughts (A 90 Day Devotional Book 3)

Tommy Nelson’s Brave Girls

If you had to name the top five bravest people you know, who would make the list? Maybe your mom or dad? No, you are just you, doing your school thing, going to church, and having fun with hobbies and friends. No real need for bravery around here, you might think. A word like bravery was supposed to be saved for big-time heroes, not small-town, ordinary girls, right? So when they all began studying how God used ordinary girls in the Bible to accomplish amazing things for His kingdom, they were blown away.

Story after story showed how God worked incredible wonders whenever His girls simply followed His lead. Ready for some action?

What God Can Do in Daily Devotions – John Piper

If you want to begin every day encouraged, full of hope and ready to face the day in victory Jun 18, Bridget rated it it was amazing Shelves: I found this book to be very uplifting. I kept this book in my car and read one chapter a day in the parking lot of my job right before it was time for me to go in. It really helped my day start with clarity and a positive atmosphere.

May 17, Chris rated it liked it. Joel's book contains 90 devotionals of about three to five pages in length. I found the devotionals useful, but knowing that he comes from a mega church background, I felt I wasn't going to get real in-depth devotionals concentrating on passages from the Bible. Bible passages were included each day, but sometimes I had trouble seeing the connection between the passage for the day and the devotional he was including with it.

At the end of each devotional, there is a prayer. However, I'm not sure Joel's book contains 90 devotionals of about three to five pages in length. However, I'm not sure if this was on purpose or not, but none of the prayers ended in "Amen". Maybe it was intentional so that we could continue praying? Some have said that his theology is flawed. I did see one flaw that sticks out to me every time I see it no matter who says it.

Near the end of the book he sites 1 Corinthians People often confuse this verse with what we sometime hear people say: Folks, the phrase "God will never give you more than you can handle" is NOT true. Look at the verse from 1 Corinthians. The verse is specifically talking about temptation And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

For these reasons, I gave this book 3 of 5 stars. Jan 10, Matthew rated it did not like it. Read Day One This Morning and was touched by how appropriate the words and wisdom were for exactly where I am in my life-path. As is our approach to scripture which see Read Day One This Morning and was touched by how appropriate the words and wisdom were for exactly where I am in my life-path.

As is our approach to scripture which seems to be an underlying or interwoven component to the wisdom he teachers rather than the "source and norm for faith and life" with regards to faith and my spiritual journey that it is for me. As I said, I am very touched by this mornings words. He comes across with a "Now is OUR TIME" attitude as if we are owed something as long as we are living faith according to his teachings and are willing to hold up our Bible at the beginning of a church service and do a chant with him.

He reminds me of those who Paul debated with and struggled against when he wrote the Letter to the Churches In Galatia - The book of Galatians points out the heart of the Gospel in a way that this Book completely misses. Dec 04, Amanda rated it liked it. Willing to overlook the skewed theology and look at it for what it has to offer Christians. Originally when I got this as a gift I didn't want to read it due to the fact that seminarians view some of what he says as heresy.

It's up to me to personally distinguish what I can and cannot take out of this book regarding faith. So I did two things as I read it: I only found a few things, some of which he offers disclaimers for. There is a personal review for this book on what I am taking away from this, which I will NOT be posting due to pain and such. This book offers the hope that we can have from the gospel and how it can translate into our lives in faith and obedience.

It offers enthusiasm that is constant for living well even when life knocks you down to keep going on. That while suffering we can chose to have a I can get through this because of God mentality. Or when we are being tested we shouldn't complain but change how we respond cuz God is watching.

What I cannot take out of this book is following God will cause me to be rich and famous due to my own merit. Jan 28, Tyrenee rated it it was amazing. This book has been instrumental in changing my life. I have included it in my Devotional Time and journal to each devotional. Osteen has a way of quoting verses from the bible without it sounding like an evangelical hip hip hooray chant. He succeed in making us look at the power of the words behind it and with prayers can only make us act with faith to achieve the best life possible.
