I bought this book after seeing Mrs Teege speak on a TV chat show and finding her account compelling to listen to. She captures that freshness in her book. Whether we are descendants of perpetrators or victims, we are all survivors of those atrocities and together have to build a meaningful future.

I would hope it is also available in English. I think this is a good book but mistakingly ordered it as it's written in German, but not the sellers fault. I liked it a lot - very thought provoking since I too am a German who survived the war and have had to deal with guilt and shame.

I did not care for this book. First off, at the time of the Olympics in Berlin, Hitler's response to the black athlete Jesse Owens was warm and genuine whereas the American president of the time refused to shake Owens' hand.
