I had to create an account just to write a review for this book. It was so cute. The characters were well rounded and really felt like settlers. The innocent excitement displayed was endearing. I am looking forward to reading more from this author. Especially if the first one is so good and they will only get better.

Was easy to put down. Didn't fall in love with any character. Vivian was probably the most endearing and realistic of them all and one of the smaller parts.

After reading the previous books in this series and have this book come out as the first one, had me wondering how it would be. Starting in the past while knowing what the future held for these characters was quite enjoyable. A seventeen-year-old Tom, fourteen-year-old Dave, twelve-year-old Jenny and a nine-year-old Joel We finally get a good look at Richard and Amanda as well.

Dec 15, Tonileg rated it it was ok Shelves: Historical Western romance with a cat chasing a mouse when there is some turn around and happy ever afters for most people which is the usual goodness from Ruth Ann Nordin. I've read half a dozen book by Ms. Ruth Ann Nordin and it is always quality story telling so I dove into this slightly silly story.

Sally Larson wants to marry Judge Rick Johnson as soon as she meets him at her best friend's house, Ethel Mae, but there is a problem because Rick wants to court Ethel Mae and didn't even notice Sa Historical Western romance with a cat chasing a mouse when there is some turn around and happy ever afters for most people which is the usual goodness from Ruth Ann Nordin. Sally Larson wants to marry Judge Rick Johnson as soon as she meets him at her best friend's house, Ethel Mae, but there is a problem because Rick wants to court Ethel Mae and didn't even notice Sally.

But Sally has a bunch of brothers, so she knows men and won't give up the chase so she gets a plan to help Rick court her bestie Ethel Mae in order to spend more time with him. Of course it works, because we wouldn't have a story to read otherwise, but what was surprising was the fact that the marriage is in the middle of the book and we get a gimpse at married life and how to deal with in-laws when Rick's parents suddenly move from Vermont to Omaha to be closer to their son and instantly don't like Sally for a variety of reasons.

HEA is gaurenteed and I did like everyone involved because no one is perfect which makes the characters all too human and fun to read about. Apr 06, Annette rated it it was amazing. Witty characters, easy-going plot and sweet romance. Great one to grab a blanket, a cup of coffee and relax in your favorite chair as you have a can't put the book down afternoon. No it doesn't have complicated plot and much is predictable but Nordinn weaves her storytelling in such a way you just enjoy the relaxed tone. I loved how she developed so many of the characters.

I felt I was sitting on the porch of farmhouse and could envision not only the characters but the surroundings. Nordin paints a picture with her pen taking us along with her on this ride. There were a couple spots I felt some could have been changed. Discussing these would spoil parts of the book for those who have not read. Feb 01, Cayla rated it liked it. As someone who used to live in Omaha, I found this book somewhat appealing. It's a good book, for the most part, but it didn't draw me in completely.

Basically two girls conspire to make a man fall in love with one of them. I now I will definitely devour it if it was written: This story is wonderfully written and the characters are so vivid that they jump out of the pages and into your heart. I did feel that maybe there was more going on with the fire and the art theft but nothing more was written about them. It added a danger element to the story but I kind of felt that it was never really discussed as much as I would have liked.

Lia and Lucas have one of those loves that has no beginning and no end and when they finally get it together and admit their feelings the chemistry is off the charts. I beautiful love story with a well deserved HEA. Amelia is really sick of her brother Craig always putting his nose in her life always including his best friend and her secret crush Lucas into her life also. She is pretty sure he has gone to far now and she has about had it, only problem is everything seems to be falling apart around her and she just needs to prove to him she will not fail and can live in the country and still enjoy the city.

This book was a really cute love story. The storyline itself was pieced together well and flowed leaving you wanting more with each turn of the page. If you looking for a really fun love story set on a farm this is the story for you, its well worth the read. I received this book free of charge from the publisher, but this review consists of my honest opinions, not influenced in any way by the author or publisher Thank you Netgalley for the copy in exchange for my honest review!

Her Hearts Desire follows the lovely story of Lia and Lucas. Lia had always had a crush on Lucas but he was her brothers best friend. Little did she know the feeling was mutual.

It was a little short and I felt some things could have been drawn out more but overall I loved it. It was a short, sweet love story.

(one's) heart's desire

I fell in love with Lucas and Lia's characters and I loved his strongly they felt for each other. I also really loved the attention to detail in this book. I thought it was very well written and the picturesque details were wonderful. My only complaint is that I wished it were a longer story. I felt like it was over in a heartbeat. Overall, a definite good read and I would highly recommend! I received this book in return for an honest review Let me say this upfront: I'm not typically a romance novel reader. I find them to be unrealistic with little in terms of plot and with mushy endings.

Linda Joyce's book though is the exception to the rule I'm happy to say. Art teacher Lia returns to the family farm after her parents untimely death. Her brother Craig prefers to sell the farm but Lia insists on keeping it, despite Craig insisting that she's wasting her time. She receives so Note: She receives some help from Lucas, Craig's best friend. Lucas is a veteran whose family's farm has been sold and who has also been the object of Lia's affections for years. The novel sees Lia facing trials and tribulations and she tries to save the farm with Lucas' help while the two kindle a romance.

Despite not being much of a romance reader, I throughly enjoyed this book. It had some great characters and a strong plot, something that I find missing from most books. I'm looking forward to seeing where these characters go next. Jun 22, Jasmyn rated it liked it Shelves: Well, the first thing I have to say about this one is that Craig is an a-hole. You're set up to dislike him, and it just keeps getting worse.

He treats our star, Amelia, like she's five years old and needs to be taken care of in every way, incapable of making her own decision. But, Amelia isn't having any of it. In fact, she's determined to get a boyfriend and have an amazing date. But of course we have complications. That complication comes in the form of her brother's best friend, Lu Well, the first thing I have to say about this one is that Craig is an a-hole.

That complication comes in the form of her brother's best friend, Lucas. Who also happens to be the man she's had a crush on her entire life. Thins sort of steamroll on Amelia, and I continue to wonder if her brother had anything to do with it. It seems like she just can't catch a break - it's actually a little too much. Instead of waiting for her and Lucas to get together, I started wondering what was going to wrong next.

The ending was quite abrupt. It seemed like it hit an HEA brick wall and suddenly it was over. I prefer to see a little bit more of a wind down, myself.

Apr 24, Rachel rated it really liked it Shelves: It seemed like Lia Amelia had Murphey's law working against her every turn she took. I felt so bad when things kept going wrong, but they did bring about a positive-Lucas. You couldn't help but cheer for those two, hoping things would work out for them.

The brother, Craig, is another story He's to be the main character in the next book in the series. He's got a ways to go to be hero worthy in that book because he didn't spend much time in the good-guy roll with this one. His heart It seemed like Lia Amelia had Murphey's law working against her every turn she took. His heart was in the right place, but his actions left a lot to be desired. It worked for the story, so it will be interesting to see how the author helps him grow for his story. Overall, I enjoyed the book. Finished it in one day, so that alone shows it was a good read. I liked Lia and Lucas and was happy to find out what happened to them.

There was just enough of an ending to satisfy, but I have a feeling the author intends to include some of their continued story I hope! I received a copy of this book for free as a Goodreads Giveaway. This is a great book; this is the first book in the Sunflower Series by Linda Joyce. Lucas Dwyer returns to his family home after serving in Afghanistan only to find that the bank has foreclosed on the farm. He needs to find work to help support his younger sister who is in college. If you are looking for a great love story with great characters, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review. This was a pretty good romance book with some family drama thrown in the mix.

Lia's brother does not want her running the family farm after their parent's death so he enlist best friend to try to get her to change her mind not knowing that his friend Lucas is in love with Lia. This leads to mixed feeling for Lucas for what he should because he is unaware that Lia loves him as well. Now that is all I am going to say for spoiler reasons but let's just a lot happens when the truth comes out and Lia's brother finds out about them and what is decided about the farm that her brother tries to sell from under her. I am going to give this book four out of five stars.

Apr 24, Jackie Rogers rated it liked it. Amelia is grieving her parents death while working their farm. Her brother, Craig, is living high on the hog in the city and wants his sister there too. Amelia is also an artist and painys her best at the farm. Their childhood friend, Lucas, is a neighbor and keeps his eye on Amelia while also being quietly in love with her. The story is full of circumstances working against Amelia making a go of farming and her brother wanting to sell said farm and get her back in the city.

She also quietly loves Lucas. Will there be a happy ending? Wow, I just loved this book that was set in the Midwest by Linda Joyce. Amelia "Lia" and her companion "Gentleman Jack" struggle to show her brother and his best friend, who just returned from Afghanistan, that she can overcome several tough obstacles. Then things get in her way and she ends up battling maybe a little more than just she can handle. Then the luck finally turns her way!
