Kazakh Recipes for People Who Cant Boil Water

Although I say it's easier to cook, it's not that easy to get it perfectly right to professionally qualify it as Plov.

Uzbek plov

For people who don't know what plov is, I would like to share my way of cooking it. Although you can cook it with beef or any other types of meat, I find it tastier making it with lamb. It's easy, simple and tasty. You can always make it to suit your own taste buds by adding other spices and stuff. However, the following ingredients I used are must-use components for plov.

Cut your lamb in cubes 2. Chop your onions in strips 3.

Carrots cut in strips. Fry the onions until brown in high.. Then lift them into a plate. Using the same pan fry the meat on high heat to brown and until its juice has evaporated. Add the carrots and fry together with the meat for about 10 minutes. Add salt and pepper.

Mix it a bit. Bring the onions back into the pan. Slowly add your water and bring it to boil. Turn the heat down and simmer for 20 minutes. It has to be a bit oversalted as your rice will absorb it. Be careful, don't overdo it.

How to cook kazakh national dish "Beshbarmak"

It's better to have less salt than too much of it. It's a pretty good book for starters. I like how simply put the instructions are.

I also like the tips and vegetable section. The colors are bright, the book lies mostly flat, and the pictures it does have are nice. However, there are not enough pictures, especially considering that this book is for beginners and you have no idea what the dish is supposed to look like. As you can see, there's plenty of room to put pictures in. It'll also be nice if some pictures showed techniques or illustrated how to do some steps. I'm an avid cook and can follow a recipe well without much fuss, but this book was for someone who doesn't cook and does not follow instructions well so I didn't find it helpful enough.

If I'd been able to check the glossary, or skim through the actual book, I wouldn't have bought it in the first place so I'm including some pictures for others to see. What a neat little hard-cover book.

I'm an experienced cook and was just looking to see if there are any super-easy recipes out there for those nights when I just "don't feel like cooking, but want to have a good dinner". And actually, since I do know "how to" on Never too late to learn something new or an easier way to do things we already know. Thank you Food Network for putting this little gem together. It is easy to read.

Has gorgeous pictures, notes and tips. I am a lunch lady in a small high school. For the past two years I have bought a dozen or more of these cookbooks for graduation gifts, and attach a note inside. There are instructions in this book that cover cooking basics and really fit the "How to Boil Water" title. However, the recipes themselves often require multiple sets and can be a bit complex for the "beginner" cook. In terms of the actual recipes - we have tried many, many and have yet to be disappointed. This is my son's 'go to', and he really enjoys 5 or 6 recipes that have become staples in our house.

This book as been so utilized since Christmas, it's getting a bit ragged remember the book is being handled by a teenager, not that the book itself has binding issues. I might need to purchase another one this Christmas. So, I think the book is a little more advanced than "How to Boil Water" but if you are willing to put in the effort the results are well worth it. I am glad I bought this book.

I've been buying cookbooks for a while, and have failed miserably at the whole cooking thing.

I then realized, it is not the recipes that were my problem, it was I didn't know the basics of how to cook. This book is a great help in taking things one step at a time. The smallest accomplishments have boosted my ego and confidence levels greatly. If you have no problem in admitting you need help with the basics of cooking, I recommend buying this book.
