There is a tale that goes something like this: Why You Should Pay Attention When was the last time you thought about what your deepest, most cherished desire is? Clearing the Way Listening for your inner voice is like training a new muscle.

A few meaningful daily practices to put in place are ones you are probably familiar with: Cultivate present-moment awareness Practice mindfulness in all activities Follow a healthy diet Exercise you know this was coming Surround yourself with people who support you and your dreams Meditate While all of these practices are beneficial, meditation is like jumping on the fast track. The following is a meditation exercise to help you get started.

Cultivating Your Inner Voice Find a quiet place without disturbances and get into a comfortable position avoid lying down unless you have physical limitations. If you are seeking guidance regarding a particular situation, formulate the question now and write it down.

You are here

Be specific as possible this is for your eyes only so be open and honest. Place it beside you. Close your eyes and focus on your breathing.

Begin to inhale deeply, and as you exhale, allow your body to relax even more. Take 2 to 3 of these deep breaths. Notice where your attention is. Now, silently ask yourself the following questions without judgment or expectations. You will have thoughts and this is normal, simply drift back to the mantra each time. Practice this for 10 minutes feel free to set a timer.

When finished, slowly open your eyes and notice how you feel. If you wrote a question down, look at it and see if anything reveals itself. Feel free to journal if you are inspired.

After an amazing year of living abroad and traveling around Europe, I was back in the same boat — unsure and confused about what to do with my life.

I felt like something was always missing. I used partying and alcohol to fill the gap, not knowing there were other options.

Your Zen Life

To me, this sounded amazing. The salary was not great, but something was telling me not to pass down this opportunity. I took the job. That was the first time I really listened to my voice inside. The job ended up getting me a scholarship to become a Health Coach. I fell in love with the holistic lifestyle. I had a job that allowed me to be myself, and do the things I loved. My intuition then led me to complete a yoga teacher training, something I had thought and dreamed about for a while. I would never have taken the plunge into this teacher training without finally listening to what my inner voice was guiding me to do.

Intuition is the highest form of intelligence, transcending all individual abilities and skills. Here I am now, pursuing my passions of nutrition and yoga. I am a certified health coach and yoga instructor. I am teaching yoga in NYC and coaching clients in health and wellness in person and on Skype! I absolutely love being able to help people by teaching them what I know and love. I am finally on my way to living the life of my dreams.

Just focus on now, how are you feeling right now. Once you are able to live more in the present moment without worrying about the future and the past, you will be able to listen more closely! Stop rushing through life.

Hearing Through Stillness

No mind playing or confusion. We waited a few days to see if the feeling would change. I've learned that the safest path is not always the best path and I've learned that the voice of fear is not always to be trusted. Begin to inhale deeply, and as you exhale, allow your body to relax even more. I thought am I crazy you know because he says otherwise.

Everything you do should be done mindfully. This goes along with being present; you cannot do something mindfully if you are not present.
